Nice score Bob!
  I have a 750, there a hand full!
You'll be impressed with yours once you get it running!
FYI, The intake boot seems to be the weak link on the 750.

I've only ever seen one of that model in running condition and it owned by Larry S. in Ohio .That one has a tuned pipe on it .

Back in the day these were the hot set up for a race saw .I believe this is the last of the large displacment professional saws Homelite ever built .Their demise I'm sure had a lot to do with changing methods of old growth harvest on the west coast and varied ownership of the company.

During that time period there was kind of a changing of the guard .Mac and Homelite through bad management and other factors became lesser players in the pro saw arena and Stihl and Husqvarna moved in .Also during those days Honda and Toyota gained market shares and Ford  GM ,American Motors and Chrysler took a more backwards seat .It's just how things seem to evolve  over time .

I love the sound of those old, long stroked saws. Seems he was running her a tad rich.

McBob

Now another item worth thinking about rings for the 750 i see an entry in H of H that Mac Rings from the PM105 and SP105 fit at 2.25 there thin ring tool steel
I bought a spare cylinder from a fella called American Bulldog and now would like to source a spare 750 piston to check the groove thickness or if one of our members has one then could they measure it for us and post it here for all to see i know rings for the PM / SP105 are scarce as well but its another source for those wanting to keep one of the 750's going.

If I recall correctly that series of which the 550,650 and 750 belong was the very last of the pro type timber saws Homelite ever built .

Since this thread got started Brad S has a nice 750.good runner .On a big log however I can out gun him with my 2100S .That's the difference between a piston port and a reed valve .The old reeders were pullers ,about like a Clydesdale .When you get into long bars and big wood speed isn't where it's at,it's the torque that gets it done .
