Small world, I recognize that username.

I got a husky 372 with a problem I never seen before. It happened in shipping while being traded in  to me, is what we have come to a conclusion.

When I get some close up pics. I'll post the problem.

Just out of curiosity if it's not too much to ask, exactly who has this site ?

Seems to me sites are sprouting up everywhere here of late  for one reason or another .I have an idea why but will refrain from opining on the situation .

I recognize a few names but I'm kind of out of the loop with some who perhaps visit  a certain place in cyber  space I once visited  myself .

Al I created the site goofing off 2 days ago. I explained it over on Butch's site Treehouse,  in the TE section for the whole thing  ;)

Next thing I know the site was online.

Hi folks!

Totte here. A good deal of you know me from another place with the same nick, the place of hoarding those things that this site is about repairing. I try to help out here as I can. I also will try to keep my mouth shut when I have nothing to say, not one of my best qualities otherwise ;D

Think this site is a great idea, I hope it grows to success and that many people needing help can get it. Thanks Cut4fun who started it!

chainsawrepair is the admin name here when I registered the site. Sometimes I post and dont realize I am on that name.   Sorry for the CORNfusing. But I cant see going back and modify every post after I pull the duh card on myself.

Chainsawrepair = Kevin
Cut4fun = Kevin

Just so people know they can get hold of me at both.

Besides not showing up on the search engines till 3-4 pages deep for newbies to find to ask the knowledge base here questions with their troubled saws.

Anyone have any suggestions etc to make the site better or user friendly?

How are you liking the site and it's set up so far?

There is suppose to be some upgrades in April, which makes me a little nervous.  :o

Hello, Kevin and Chainsaw Fanaticos!!

Here's wishing this forum a great future!!

Found one snag when I tried to post a photo of my Blitz 40. You'll see the explanation of the problem in that post. I worked around it and finished the post, but you might want to notify folks to keep attachments to smaller than 100kb...

Crescit eundo!! ("It grows as it goes!!")

I seen and answered what's up with the 100kb attachment size here in your other thread. It cost me $30 so we wouldnt run out of space that came free within the first week.

I suggest a free photobucket account for bigger nicer pics.  http://photobucket.com/

I'm just trying to do a basic site where friends can talk and feel like family sharing at a gtg without all the bs like other sites I have been on.

Thanks for your feedback and hope you enjoy your stay here,
Kevin

Great site here, Kevin. I've just started nosing around, after hearing about the site from you yesterday. Seems like some great folks on board, good information, and a nice "tone" (it's always nice when you can get a bunch of guys talking about something like chainsaws without it turning into a competition to see who can "out macho" the other guy).

I have only been following this forum for a few weeks and it has been very informative and maintains a very friendly, helpful tone.

I posted some comments and questions regarding a CS-440EVL ECHO chain saw and it was truly amazing how forum members jumped on my post and very rapidly asked questions to get the problem clear in their collective minds and in no time at all  I was able to put together a good plan of attack and had acquired vital information that made a big difference to me.  Tremendous guidance and help.

Enjoy the site. Please feel free to contribute.

I have a few Dolmars myself.

I had a couple model airplane engines that use the Dolmar 111 type piston and cylinder. I showed one to the local Dolmar dealer and he gave me a 111i that had been under the work bench several years. I eventually put a new carb on it. It runs great. I bought a used 6000i that was in nice shape and it is a real sweet heart.

Then I have a 5105 and a couple 7900's.

Hi folks,
Finally got round to signing up here having been dropping by as a guest for maybe 18 months... can't quite remember how I found you in the first place! Gotta say this site is a gold mine for information! Over here in the UK there really isn't much of a culture of repairing things when they go wrong, folk just throw things out and get another, which is really sad. So it can be difficult to find good information. So thank you to all you guys who share your knowledge and experience here! It is greatly appreciated I can assure you!
I have a few saws, I guess my main go to for my firewood needs and general jobs is my Husky 346xp (oe), absolutely love that little beast! Most recently I picked up a pair of 1988 Husky 2101xp's on a double ended mill. They had been sat above a blacksmiths forge for over 15 years so were in need of a little love haha! But they came at a great price and thankfully had been stored well and really didn't take a lot to get going again. I think my brother and me are gonna have fun with them! Just couldn't leave them there!
Anyway, great to be here and look forward to talking with you guys in the future.
Rick

This looks like the howdy thread.

Howdy!

I was visiting a friend and he had 6 dirty oily saws setting on the ground.  I asked, "what is that" and pointed at them.  He told me they were junk, and said I could haul them off if I wanted.

I hauled them off.  Got three 42 cc, and one 50cc Poulans, a 55 Rancher and a 455 Rancher.  With a bit of cleaning up and 6 feet of fuel line i got all of them to start.  I'm going to give him back about half of them.  I'm going to keep that 55.

Three of the Poulans and the 55 Rancher are OK as they are.  I gave the 55 Rancher a full tear down and cleanup, it would meet factory specs.

The 455 Rancher the one I'm going to give back to my friend has crankshaft bearings on order and when they're installed it will be fine.

One of the 42 cc poulan's needs a cylinder and piston to bring it around.

That was and is fun.  Then I dug out two old saws I had to see if they could be fixed up, a Poulan 245 and a Poulan 365.

It turns out the 245 my dad had is cheery, maybe has 10 hours on it.  The Poulan 365 is a saw I've had since 1992, it's very worn more than a 1,000 hours.  I'm going to fix them both up.

Last year when my 365 became unmanageable with a bar stud pulling out, a broken dog in the pull starter, and it was beginning to smoke, I bought a 55 cc Echo Timber Wolf.  I don't like it very much.

The 245, 365, and that 55 Rancher are well built saws, worth fixing.  The others are fair running saws but throwaways after a couple hundred hours.

The only reason I'm rebuilding that tiny 42 cc is to have a very clean running saw to take up in trees for pruning, because a smoking saw up in a tree where I can't get out of the fumes is not enjoyable.

This forum has already helped me sort many of these saws details out.  Thanks!
