All I know is that both Husky and Stihl seemed to be be fond of them in the late 1980s and into the 1990s. I don't know what happened after that.

I've had some chainsaws with Kolbenschmidt cylinders and they are as good as the Mahle and Gilardoni cylinders. I've seen them in both open and closed port.

They have a K/S in a square for a emblem

One of the newer 660 jugs I seen that had stihl on it has the KS symbol on it also.
