So are all the jonsered 2077 2083 2083II clutch cover metal?
Just received this one and thought cool, not plastic like ones on the poulan versions.

Looks like they were plastic ones too.
-
Interesting info - I never really thought about it before, except that your WT 505 cover is magnesium..... ;D
-
The 2077 I just worked on had a plastic cover......I've parted a few of them out over the last while and I think most of the Jonsereds had plastic.
-
Just a thought, Husky changed from plastic to mag clutch covers on other models around the mid 1990s, so maybe on the P7700 based models too? :-\
-
Never even knew there was a metal offering in clutch covers on these series of saws ( Partner Jonsered Poulan Pro ). Cool to know and glad I got one.
-
Looked up some IPLs (Jonsered and Partner), and it looks like the change (to metal) was made some time between 1996-08 and 1998-03. ;)

Yes, the plastic covers came first and were followed by the metal covers. Not sure, but there may have been a service bulletin on it at the time. The plastic covers would get distorted somehow.
-
Came across a NOS deflector. Being some of my poulan ones are either missing or pretty wore, I grabbed it up. ;D
Everything I have bought in this thread has been from a member here in the where to buy online board. Top notch and has always treated me right for awhile now.

So is there any reason why this cover could not be used on a Poulan 505 other than it being red?

No reason at all, I bought it for my poulans. ;) Thats why I showed it, so we could be on the hunt for metal ones 1st and plastic 2nd.
Someday mine will be yellow with a homemade decal put on it.

Just picked up a jonsered 2077 that has the metal clutch cover. Bought non running and recoil dont engage.
Looks to been used hard and put up wet.

My 2nd metal jonsered 2077 2083 clutch cover. I had to pay dearly to buy this one. Cost me $92 shipped :o.
Then pack up and ship overseas for a collector with a like new jonsered with craccked plastic cover. :'(
But he has been a very good customer over on my chainsaw repair group facebook, I offered to buy it and take care of shipping to him. Which cost of shipping to him on small packages is crazy high too.
Then some other jonsered 2077 used parts I pulled for a guy for a rebuild. Recoul old style and a nice top cover.

NOS Jonsered metal clutch cover arrived today.
-
Couple more just picked up. Metal jonsered 2083 with nice decal.
Usable plastic 2077 one at least. Not for those shelf queens like other one.
-
does anyone have the part number?
-
This is the part number for a Jonsered 2083 II. 503 89 97-02
Jonsered 2077 503 89 97 02
I did not have a part number for the regular Jonsered 2083

Those plastic Jonsered poulan partner clutch covers not bad at all. Crracked like they typically do. But not warped at bar mount areas. Past owners must have kept the outer bar plates on. Thankfully.
Getting the dried pine tar off the one was fun.
Can see partner molded in color I swear where chain hit one without the deflector.

Something I been trying on how to bring colors back to plastics.
These after cleaning the grime off as shown above.
What you didnt see. Had a real faded white to them after cleaning grease etc off with rag and brake clean etc. Which I found to harsh for plastic but works. But be ready to bring the faded colors back.
Before cleaning started.
Yesterday doing another coat.

What I use it for. I figured if it brought this color back it could work on others.
