Title: Poulan rim drive drums
Post by: Eccentric on December 15, 2013, 05:00:42 pm
-I need a rim-drive clutch drum for a 3400-4000/PP375-395 series Poulan.  They're on feebay, but I like dealing with people I know if possible.  I also like trades. 8)

-I also need a rim-drive drum for a 245/306 Poulan.  Same part was also used on the 4200/5200 CounterVibes.

-Also would like to get a rim-drive drum for a PoulanPro 295/4620 series saw. I believe a rim-drive drum for a 2700, 2750 or 2900 is the same.

-May be interested in a good 3/8-LP spur drum for a PP295/4620/etc if a used rim-drive doesn't pan out (at least until I break down and buy a new rim-drive drum).

Got things to trade...

Mr. Aaron sir.

I have bunches of rims but don't have part numbers if you have dimensions I could probably help ya out.

I can measure the spur drums that I have now and get back to you.  I can also give you #'s for the drums that I'm looking for.

23706X is the Oregon # for the 245/306 rim drive drum.  530048001 is the Poulan # for that drum.

28187 is the Oregon # for the 3400-4000 rim drive drum.  530048069 is the Poulan # for the rim drive drum.

41569 is a Windsor and Oregon # that I've found for a 3/8-LP spur drum for the PP295.

41726X is the Oregon # for the PP295 rim drive drum.  PA475SCJ7N is the GB # for this rim drive drum.  530069316 is the Poulan # for this rim drive drum.

The drums for the PoulanPro 295 are the same as used on Husky 36/136/41/141 chainsaws.

The PP295 drums have an outside diameter of 2.625".  The crankshaft has a .3937" diameter and takes a 37325 bearing.

The 3400-4000 drums have an outside diameter of 3.125".  The crankshaft has a .500" diameter, and takes the common 11893 bearing.

The 245/306 drums have a 3.3125" outside diameter.  The crankshaft has a .5625" diameter and takes a 12068 bearing.

These measurements were taken out of Cutters Choice and Oregon catalogs.  The bearing #'s are Oregon part #'s.

Which ones can you get at work?  Since my last post here, A fellow on AS contacted me saying that he has the 3400-4000 and 306/245 rim drive drums for me.  Looks like I'm set for those two.

That just leaves the 41726X drum for the PP295.  I've found a few on feebay.  Prices vary wildly.  Can you get that one, and if so how much can you get it for?  I'd probably also need the 37325 bearing for that one.

It should come with a .325-7 small 7-spl rim.  I could also use a 3/8-7 small 7-spl rim for that.  I want to try different chain pitches on that saw.

Can you get the 41569 3/8-LP spur drum?

The 245/306 and 3400-4000 rim drive drums are taken care of.

All I need now is the drum for the PP295.

Parts needed . . .

"The PP295 drums have an outside diameter of 2.625".  The crankshaft has a .3937" diameter and takes a 37325 bearing."
".325-7 small 7-spl and 3/8-7 small 7-spl rim"

"#41569 3/8-LP spur drum" with the dimensions in the first line

I may have a cheap source for that PP295 drum.  Will get back to you after if I see if it pans out.

Just got a PP375 in the mail today....................................and dammit it has a spur drive drum.  Why the heck did Poulan put spur drive drums on 'Professional' saws?  This makes two that've come to me with spurs (my 4000 and now this PP375).  Got a rim drive drum on the way for the 4000.................but it looks like I now once again need an Oregon 28187.

The IPL's show rim drive drums.  I've gotten 3400's with rim-drive drums (should have kept the one that was on the 3400 I sold on feebay).  Just can't understand why they'd put a spur on a 'pro' saw... ???

Aaron

I have more OEM 4200/5200 3/8 spur drums than you can shake a stick at, if it helps.

Hiya Rob,

Glad to see you over here.  I'm trying to stick with rim-drive on these saws if possible.

I'm not familiar with what those part #'s fit.

I'm guessing the 1/4" setup is intended for something like an XXV series saw.

When the 3400's came out, I'm not sure there was any such critter as a rim drive.

If your still looking I think I got what you need.  I bought one off of diggers dad that was too big for my 3.3.  I will check it out tonight.  I bought one off cougar99 from a 365, man will i be ticked if that don't fit the 3.3.  I could use a .325 x 8 rim to swap if ya got one to spare.

The 365 drum should work on your 3.3.  I'll have to look to see if I have a .325-8 rim.  Are there any numbers on that drum you got from DD?

Its 3" on the inside & will fit nicely on a 1/2" shaft.  I never could find a match to that part#?  Sorry to take so long to get back with you, its been here in my desk for a couple of days now.
