Title: broken av mount on a husky 365
Post by: brokenbudget on December 29, 2013, 04:27:59 am
this is what I started with. owner tried to clean it up a small amount and then tried to weld the tang back on. didn't work, lost the broken piece, brought it to me for something that would work other than a $400 repair bill from dealer.

cut and welded a couple of 120thou thick pieces together to make a bracket. drilled and tapped the holes for the screws, welded both brackets to the spike for added strength:

locked everything in place with jb weld:

bolt everything up, wait for jb weld to cure, and throw saw back together:

Nice job, how did the tab get broken off in the first place?

Sorry to be drifting off-topic here..............but I found this pic while searching for the 'thumbs up' pic in my above post.

Am I the only one that's genuinely impressed (instead of just amused) by this guy's auto AC solution?  I think it's awesome (although probably a bit loud with that genny running on the decklid).  Also digging his tail light retrofit.  I'll bet it get's nice and COLD in there with that bad boy running...8)

Good job on the fix.   Looked like he messed up pretty good before getting it to ya.
