I'm putting one of these back together and the clutch drum seems to have way too much play, nearly 1/8 of an inch.  As per the ipl all the parts are in the correct order but it seems to need an extra washer as a spacer on the drive shaft.  There is a shoulder on the shaft which stops the clutch drum (rim drive) from going any closer to the oiler drive washer.  Do I have the wrong drum perhaps.  This is a new to me old saw that was/is in rough shape.  Don't know why I'm spending so much time and $ on it.  Any thoughts welcome

Does your drum have the hole for the pin that turns the oil pump?

Can you put up a pic or two?  I assume that it is an aftermarket rim sprocket.

If it is an aftermarket sprocket I would say that where the problem is. To me there tolerances are not as stringent as oem . I think that most saws have a little inward/outward play an least a 1/16th.

I had a 031 for a few years and there was no noticeable extra play in the clutch hub.

Thanks for the input. I re looked at the service manual and discovered that I had the oil pump driving washer on backwards and now all is well.

I've now got the recoil back on and have spark and it seems serious comp  Yea!

However there is spark in both the on and off switch positions. Can't wait to put some fuel in and give it a try.

So I have a good spark and good comp but no fire! I guess maybe the timing is off. Although I'm sure I got it to fire a while ago?

Any thoughts?
