Title: Mall 7H bar & chain
Post by: super44 on May 12, 2011, 08:28:18 pm
I have a Mall 7h that needs a bar, chain and tensioner.  I am in NW Wisconsin.  There are a couple other issues but I will deal with that if I can get the bar etc.

Thanks

I have no idea where you at but in the past these old monster things would occasionally show up at a local  farm auction .They usually didn't fetch too much money .Around here they ran 4 and 5 foot bars back in the day which was mid 50's early 60's  on the model 7's

Bryce S in Washington who sells on flea bay under "cheap chainsaw parts  "has a selection of parts if that helps you out any .

I hace a search on Ebay and cheap chainsaw parts  comes up some some of it.  I'm in NW Wisconsin. I paid 33.00 for the power head, tranny and grab handle.  It has sat a long time and needs to be completely torn down for some major TLC.  I have seen the parts I need but the shipping cost has made the parts to expensive.

You're just going to have to be patient for parts for that behemouth thing . They pop up from time to time on flea bay .The chain would probabley be one of the hardest things to find .

That is about the most weird design you can imagine .A portion of the cutting tooth is on one link of the chain while the other part is on another link .Large too ,like 9/16 or 5/8" size .

I've got I think a model 12 in one of my sheds which is very low on my list of restorations .If I can get a good close up of that chain I'll post it .

I've got some pictures of that odd ball chain .I doubt it's the size for a model 7 .This is called improved planer chain .

This is 9/16" chain ,part of the cutter is on the tie strap .the other on the drive link . I imagine the model 7 takes 3/4" chain .

The old saw is small for a Mall being a tad over 4 cubic inch .Model 12

That chain looks like it has seen the file many times.

Oh sure it's gone but remember that saw is 60 years old and most likely has not ran for 30 plus years .
