I found a new source today for carb kits that I'm all excited about. It's a company callled Carb Tech Solution and they have the best prices on carb kits I've seen. Also free shipping on most.
Many of the complete kits are 3-4 bucks and gasket only kits are like $1.99. Check em out.
I ordered a bunch of carb kits and some primer bulbs, etc. Paid with PayPal.

Carbtech21.com ?? I'm curious to see the product, post some pics when you get them!
What's the shipping time? Address listed for returns is a small residential house in Garden Grove, Ca. Seems odd, but maybe not... Maybe the parts are "drop shipped" from China? In any case keep us posted

I have seldom been happy with aftermarket kits. Easier and cheaper to do it right the first time.
-
Yes, this is the link http://www.carbtech21.com/default.asp
I've never had an issue with any carb kit other than losing parts from my own ineptness. So some people don't use Stens kits?
Anyway, I haven't received anything from the company yet but I have quite a few kits coming (a dozen or more) plus some primer bulbs, etc.
I deal with some cheaper saws and the ability to rebuild the carbs for cheapo is important. For instance on the Poulan 2000 series saws that I fix up and sell for $45.00. I don't want to invest too much into them. They almost always need fuel lines and usually the carb at least cleaned and usually new diaphragms.
-
I've used some no-name diaphragms they have held up OK.
-
I've been using kits from Ahlborn w/no problems so far. I am with Al tho OEM is best option.

I've tried some aftermarket kits out of curiosity in my own saws. I couldnt tell the difference in them and OEM.
-
Received the shipment today via priority mail. It came fast. I haven't used any yet. They don't look any different to me...
-
I tried forester, stens, and oregon kits. didn't have any problems with any if them but Zama and walbro kits aren't much more. Stens kits are almost the same cost as OEM. Average cost on full kits is somewhere around $8 retail with some down around 6 for oem so in a shop is just easier going oem. Repairing poulans to sell I would be jumping all over $2 kits

Zamas are the worst to find .Those rascals have so many models and if each and every number is not the exact match they will not work.Drives me nutz.
Usually I just buy the basic kits with only the diaphragms and gaskets. Here of late I've noticed a good many newer kits have the check valve assemblies made of a mylar type material rather than the old buna-n type paper or cloth .I assume this type has been upgraded to be more robust against ethanol deteriation.
-
So have you used any of these kits yet? I'm curious about the quality of $4 carb rebuild kits...

I've noticed the Mylar pump check valves/pump diaphragms also.
Within some circles it is considered that the Mylar pump diaphragms do not pump fuel as well as the Kevlar brownish woven diaphragms.
So if you have both in the kit - use the Kevlar?
The Stens kits tended to have both types?

Looked and can't find it again but I think I remember reading the mylar diaphragms go in carb bodies that are machined and the other diaphragms go in carb bodies that are not machined flat. something about sealing quality on the different surfaces.

The prices on carb kits are really cheap, but when you load an item into your cart it says free shipping next to it, but when you go to check out it says you need $50 worth of merchandise to qualify for free shipping. Pretty misleading. But the shipping rate for half a dozen carb kits is still only a $6 flat rate box.

I just bought a couple genuine Zama kits free shipping. They fit perfect. I went by the picture. The metering valve diaphragm had to have a little hole in the edge in just the right place.
The local junk store didn't have any like I wanted.
-
I bought a handful of these kits, and they seem to be fine. Used another one last night.

The pump diaphragm will get a gasket between it and the carb body so there shouldn't be a worry of sealing. Now the check valve (flapper) goes directly against the carb body which will always be machined flat.
It looks like they have great deals on fuel filters as well.

This is good to know. Thanks for feedback. If for my own saws no problem. But didnt want to put in other folks saws till tested out.

The surplus hardware store up town used to have the Stens Zama kits and I've used several that were very satisfactory.
They have mostly Stens Walbro applications now.
Like was said earlier, the Stens kits are OK but are not much different in price than OEM.
-
At least you can get them. Support from Walbro can be spotty, Tillotson is pretty much a write off. I don't know how Zama is.

I wish that place was next door like it is to you. I go in there and lose my mind what I went in for sometimes. Got to focus. LOL

They have chain and bars too

They have chain and bars too
I send local guys there for chain when I dont have their needs.

Update on the carb kits. I have used some of these now and have had no negative issues. I'll continue to use this vendor primarily because they have great prices. The biggest problem for me is trying to decide which kits to stock. I have a variety of saws and it seems like they all need fuel system work. That's why I try to stock all the sizes of fuel line as well.
-
Going to see if I can get a 50 plus order together. Already ordered from Jacks small engine and Northwood saw today too.
-
OK that was way to easy to spend over 50.
-
All the way from CA. Just like the doc ordered. Now to install some kits and see for myself.

I stay with OME for saw all my saw parts. Chains I run woodland pro chain on my huskys and dolmar and bars wise Stihl on my Stihls, on my mid sized ones oregons. The 288 is going to get a cannon. I use them too cut wood for myself and my cousin. Plus I take down trees and cut them up for wood works. I don't have any time to spare with break downs. I cut weekends and when I get home for work spring, summer and fall. Plus I do take some time too get some fishing in. ;) Also I love saws, it is my hobby rebuilding saws for me and others.

Tried to create an account after viewing the prices especially for the walbro sdc carbs but not possible as if your country does not show up in the drop down menu they dont ship to you and the only 2 countries in the menu are USA and Canada. :o
