Title: Pulled my 36" bar with my 7300 yesterday
Post by: Ducksnuff870 on March 25, 2014, 06:41:02 pm
I dropped a cotton wood yesterday with my 7300 and 36" bar.My chain was an oregon full chisel. It didnt take all the bar but pert near. The only problem I noticed is while cutting the trunk up the bar was getting gummed up 3/4 the way thru my cut. The saw held its own power wise. I used a 8 tooth sprocket. I tried to switch to a 7 tooth but my chains are too long. The oiler seemed to do the job ok. The bar and sprocket didn't seem to get hot. A friend of mine took a video its only on fb tho.

I used a stock 7900 with 36" at a gtg in a big cottonwood. Pulled it fine and pretty much buried.  Wouldnt have wanted to try it in hardwood though.
Wasnt mine to check the oiling etc so no clue on that.

Those are cool pics!I like the grapple on the front end loader too. The cottonwood I cut was jus a few mins away from you on 598. A friend of mine has property jus outside of tiro there. Tomorrow I'm picking up a homemade log arch and we are gonna take down a black walnut. We are using the arch to get the log out of another friends yard. The lumber will prob get used for furniture and to turn a few duck calls on the lathe. I'll throw some pics up if I can.

That is pretty cool.   That baby looks like it can handle some serious weight.

Its homemade built well. I borrowed it. Its needs a better winch. It only has a boat winch. The original setup before the boat winch is broken. I have videos but cant seem to upload them to here, youtube or photobucket

Somebody did a great job on it.   I think if it were me I would get one of those cheapy harbor freight 4000 lbs electric winches.

Yea that equipment looks like it would handle a 4000 lbs winch ok to me.    Lifting a good size log is pretty heavy as I found out from the log weight calculator that cut4fun gave us a link to here on the forum.

Double the line through a pulley at the hook.

Video not that good. I wish I'd had him take it with my iphone. The guy with me had an old phone and would prob have a rough time using mine.

Double the line through a pulley at the hook.
This will give your 2000 lb winch double the power but it will be twice as slow.

Put a pulley on the hook position and bring the cable back up to your frame and permanently attach the end of the cable to the main frame.

Put a pulley and the hook position and bring the cable back up to your frame and permanently attach the end of the cable to the main frame.

Like a snatch block pulley set up.

It's nice to see that log going for a better use than firewood! Although I really enjoy a fire!
