Title: Poulan Micro
Post by: fossil on April 10, 2014, 06:49:55 pm
Aaron asked me to post this over here. I bought this in an on-line auction. I will be picking it up on Sunday. I have no idea whether it's pooched or not but if so, it will make a nice shelf queen. Here are the pics from the auction site.

They aren't bad for what they are .Danged fuel lines go bad on them .I think I wrenched on two about like that last summer .Both bad lines .

That really is a cherry Micro-CVA.  Look at that bar stencil.  Same 2.0ci/33cc engine as what's in a Poulan 2000.

Unless they straight gassed it, that saw's probably mint inside.  Looks like it spent the last 30 + years in its case.  My guess is that fuel lines and a carb kit (and possibly crank seals) will be all it needs.  Maybe a fuel cap if the check valve has melted.  The updated cap is available from Husky for about $5.  They used it on the 23 chainsaw as well as some trimmers and blowers (all made by Poulan).

Crank seals take 30 minutes or less to change both sides.  Really easy.  530019059 is the crank seal #.  Also available cheap from Poulan/Husky parts outlets.  Takes about 27 feet (or so it seems) of 3/22" ID fuel line.  Hopefully the oiler check valve will be pristine.  That's just about the only part on a Micro thats NLA...

I wouldn't be surprised if the recoil side decal fell off and is in the bottom of that case.8)

I have a Canadian friend who sent me a pic of one just like that last year.  He said he's seen a few of them over the years.  IIRC, the recoil side decal has both English and French on it...

Wow Tim that is a really neat looking saw.    I think it is really neat that you are able to find these and post them here on the forum, other wise we may never see them here in the States.     You have some very unique Poulans up north of the border.

If it is based on the Poulan 2000 then parts are cheap and should be plenty around.   I actually took my 2000 apart and got rid of the base gasket, opened the ports a little, and muffler modded it.    Neat little saw.

All the ones I have seen were 3/8ths Lo Pro.

Al that is really interesting.  The only small Poulan tophandle that I've seen any mention of .325 pitch chain on was a Canadian version of a Poulan S25-CVA (different series than the Micros for those that don't already know) listed as a "2400" on Acres site.  A 2400 (Woodmaster) here in the US is a rear handle version of a 2300 Micro.  A 2100 Woodmaster is a rear handle version of a 2000 Micro.

You can see in the pic that it has a "Super XXV-CVA Mini-Pro" decal on the clutch cover (which has a chainbrake).  The bar is a Windsor Mini-Pro replaceable sprocket nose.  I have one of those bars, but with a 3/8-LP tip.  Takes 57DL of LP.  If I ever find a .325 rim for the 9-spline drum on one of my S25-CVA's (so far I've only found LP and 1/4 rims for it), I'll put a .325 tip on that bar and see how the saw likes that pitch.

Tim if you ever find that above saw (the "Super XXV-CVA Mini-Pro) I'll be VERY interested in it.  I have put my Mini-Pro bar on the 2.3PS/VL that you sent me.  That saw has the 9-spline 3/8LP-6 rim drive setup on it.  I have a chainbrake clutch cover lined up for it that I'll repaint red so it will be a red version of that phantom saw (minus the decal and the .325 hardware).

I'll keep an eye out for one. Most of what I see up here are 38cc Craftsman's and Canadian Tire branded ones like a 2300CVA but all with chain brakes.
I do see the odd 25 come up but not many near me.

It just seems to be missing the decal on the starter casing.  Sweet looking outfit, hope you didn't poach it of my patch!

Showing a guy in CRG the differences in square end piston and ring compared to what I consider normal piston and ring.

He was trying to put the normal ring on a square ring piston.

I thought I had remembered the micro series coming through my hands in past with Tilley carbs too. I found one in a bin yesterday with the parts saw I tore down.

Poulan micro series tillotson carb pulled from micro bin.

Heck no clue if even original. Figure how much could be changed by folks over the years.

I just know it came on a micro parts saw like 12-15 years ago.  Seen others I have done with them too.

That confirmed what I was seeing on some of the early micro's I sold and traded to collectors.

Looking at the tilley application chart it list  3-4 models  micro's used the tilleys early on.

Even this website shows a few of them. Same ones listed on tilley app chart. .    :t

Those saws listed is some of the ones I had that I thought I recalled seeing them on.
I was flat out told by a poulan guy it never happened and he was certain of it. I seen different so was thinking he was wrong. ;)  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Some of the saws if not feasible builds got parted into bins. Why I still have this one micro tilley carb.
