I know this in not a trimmer forum ( if you know of a few good ones please let me know) but this trimer has a WT392 carb and the cavity for L & H screws is semi rectangular with a grey plastic main insert that is staked into place. You can see the limiter caps right below that surface. Someone managed to get the L limiter cap out of there, and, just buggered up the top of the H limiter cap which is still in place ? What should I do if anyone came across this type of set up ?

A picture would help us out. Sometimes you can use a fine thread drywall screw threaded into the center of the limiter cap to pull the cap. There is usually a tab on the cap that lines up with a notch in the retainer that when lined up with the notch will allow the cap to be pulled. Also, some caps need to be replaced after adjustment of the carburetor because there are no springs on the needles to hold the adjustment and the needles will quickly loose adjustment or back out altogether.

here's a few pics of the mixture needle area....the red cap was on the H needle.....the trimmer showed up without the l casp installed so I don't know if it's a different color/tab style...I went to local rental shop and met with the mechanic in the back just before they closed for the rest of the weekend and we dug thru his box of throwaway carbs and was able to find a few more red limiter caps ..... we also explored the possibility of retro fitting to mixture needles with springs but no dice on this model carb ( it's a WT492 by the way)...out of all the Walbro's he had in that box the threads were larger ? This model carb has very tiny threads so it won't happen on the retro fit....so I just adjusted while hot...let it cool...tested again until hot (actual trimming in my yard to place a load) and reinstalled the red limiters on both needles and called it good for now......

If you have them adjusted to a good place and you like how the trimmer starts and runs then put some finger nail polish or something similar on the head of the needles so they do not move.

Yeah 3000 I keep forgetting (AKA too much in an hurry) that I could apply nail polish or the Loctite Screw Set Compound...but...this is a customers saw...in the event it would go to another mechanic in the near future...I don't want to give that dude the chance to tell that I did not put back the factory stuff...which that's how people try to gain trust by bad mouthing the previous guy....but the owner usually doesn't know how to pre-mix any way....LOL

Ok I did not know you were working on a customers piece of equipment. Oh well I tried.
If you are stuck with factory then that is what you have to do then. It may cost more that way.

Yeah man the general public can be very sarcastic if your repair did not last at least 2 season's !...The phrase I regret the most from a customer goes like this....Well,you just fixed it last month ! This time should be free right ?...Which that translates into last month of last year according to my memory ! got to laugh after you cry !

I hear ya.
I work part time in a shop myself and I do all the 2 cycle repair there from trimmers to ice augers and small tillers.
The owners keep meticulous records of all customers and repairs so if and when someone does come back there is no dispute about what was done and when it was done. People have lousy memorys.
