Hello glad I found this forum. I am a sort of new chainsaw user. been 15 years since my last saw. Just a Home user not pro. A few weeks ago I purchased me a Husky 240 16" chainsaw for fathers day :) Great little saw. Use will be for blow downs ,suckers wat to open some of my 2 + acres up open up , not the full 2 acres just clean up..
Issue first 5/6 tanks ran flawless. I run a tank then take a break, went to cut some more about 1 hr later, saw would not idle. throttle all ok no burps or farts. Drop off to my dealer, they adjusted idle. all good for 1 tank. then started to stall, let sit the ok for awhile, I will drop off again but what can I do ? The 240 does not have access to idle screw just L and H.. I did order tool but while under warranty I do not want to mess it up.. So what do you think the issue may be? I use Fresh Gas 91 , Husky oil mix and Husky bar oil. Gas id from Shell now a flt by night
Sorry for being long winded. Any manuals I should get ?

No idle screw? That's odd. If you lean out the low jet that will bring your idle up. But if your worried about warranty I would let the dealer mess with it.

I f you change the type of oil or the amount, it will effect your idle speed.
Always use the same mix

Thanks for the replies. It is weird about no idle screw, I have the L and H and where the idle screw should be there is no hole to get to the screw. This has the EPA carb I believe so that may be why I have no access? As for fuel I am on the first gal of mix which ran fine for the first 5/6 tanks. I use SHELL 91 with Husqvarna Oil mix.. But like you said bad mix is a issue,but my gas is a week old... I did order the special adjusting screw driver for the H and L. On the older 240s I see the H L and idle screw in the pics. Once out or warrenty I will work on it but if I mess with the H and L I was worried about voiding warrenty

The ones I worked on had no limiters so who is to know if they were adjusted? Why it takes a special tool to adjust them?

the 240 is a poulan cousin. and not one of the better ones. the idle adjustment is through a hole in the top cover above the mixture adjustment.
if it's loosing idle again, constant adjustment isn't going to help. there is another issue. the carbs are absolute crap on these. go back to your dealer and ask for a new carb.

According to the manual and IPL there should be a T screw - and the access opening to the it should be down to the right of the primer bulb, just at the edge of the top cover?

Splined adjuster screws, I presume?
At least there is on my 339xp, when the limiters have been removed.

Just in case, but doubt this is the case here.
I had a little poulan come in similar to Husky 240. It was miissing the idle screw. Found screw. It had either somehow backed out or someone unscrewed it till it fell out and down into the tank area.

I had a 385XP that came out of the box with the idle screw sitting in the carb box floor.

the tool is a splined socket type.. Senior moment I found the T screw, hidden behinds the pull handle lol.,. Damn I am blind..... If the next fix doesn't fix it I wonder if they will take it back and Ill upgrade to the 435 or 440. I would like to stay under 300$. What do you Pros think of the 435 or 440?

The 435/440 are better saws. Take it back and trade!

435 is lighter too. I was impressed testing one out. 40.9 cc, 2.2 hp, 9.2 lbs
240 38.2 cc, 2 hp, 10.3 lbs

Thanks everyone for the advice.. I should have got the 435/440 and spent the extra few $$$ wish I found this site first lol
