Cool, are they what you expected? They both look great by the way. I bought and sold every one left in the US but have never had one of them in my hands! Carried a lot of boxes around but never opened even one of them!
-
Yup they are perfect! I fired one up and it sounds pretty good...would probably spank a 562! Haha
-
Well, that is great. You just can't compete with the torque generated by a long stroke.
-
I've got a guy that has 10-12 OEM 47mm x 1.2 rings i can get right if anyone is interested i'll try to work a deal for all of em. I already bought 2 just to have.

Stock for stock it might spank probably not. Just for info mine had a Walbro HD-48 carb 17mm venturi. Dolmar had Zama C3M 16.67 venturi.

Solo has a Walbro

Looks like 1 doesn't have the solo 60th sticker? Not that it matters. Whats the date on your saws? I think one 2009 had a 60th on it from Dex.

Lookin good!

I noticed the same thing Kevin.

Both were built 2009, same month too...kinda strange.

Mine is also an 09 SN: 2502 09.

Sorry guys posted some bad info on the Solo 665 carb. It's a Walbro HD-43A 16.67 venturi not a HD-48. I had been looking @ a bunch of carbs trying to find something that would replace/work on a 5100 Dolmar got my info mixed up. Did learn the Zama C3M EL8A from a 1998 Husky 365 is 17mm that's where I got the 17 from. Was looking @ these carbs to see if I could get one of them to work on the 5100 without too much trouble. As we all know it can be made to fit/work LOL.

Subscribed ;D
I want to see, hear, and know anything about these saws. 8)

On FHC one of the members who bought one of the 665s ran his (not yet broken in) 665 against a ported HVA 562XP. Only one run was a fair comparison due to knots, the box stock 665 appeared to outrun the ported 562XP by .4 of a second.
We will see when Kevin, Dexter and the rest of the boys have a go later in the month.

Kevin posted the video here too...under the 562xp thread and also the timed cut thread.
I knew the Solo would out run a stock 562, pretty surprised on the ported one tho...
-
To be honest, I was surprised too, sometimes 'ported' may not always equate to 'faster or better'. Perhaps a good omen for the last of the 665s.

Next 2 weekends I have family commitments. So hopefully 24th or after. If not no biggie on my end.
-
I have had so many inquiries about the availability of any Solos that were not already sold; that last night I asked Randy to send one of the saws I sent to him to be ported back. He still has the one he purchased, so I believe he will still be porting at least one for all to see.

I was thinking Labor day weekend or after. I have worked 20 days straight now and probably won't get a day off till next weekend. But would like to do it after that..
I have been super impressed with the stock 665 as well. I will be making another video of a stock 562xp, my stock 665, and also my ported MS 362C-M. All with new off the loop RS chain.

Adam/Adam, you guys started messing with the Solo 665s you got? If so, wazup?
-
Nothing yet. I'm getting together a 2100 Adam Clarke sent me. I have a comp on the 30th, after that we will have more time. I might send one to Mark Eckhardt to build too.

Same log. Same bar. Same 72cl chain that I ground.
-
I got these "crude" times from the videos
Solo 665 - 16 sec
Solo 662 - 12 sec
266 14 sec
372 10 sec

I'm going to get me one of these red saws today.:)

I seen that box. ;)
Give us your honest opinion on the 65cc saw stock unbroken in. ;D
-
It is strong out of the box on the first tank. I'm going to try to get some more fuel through it tomorrow at my grandpa's. I need another couple logs for testing. I may square some up and do some better testing if I have help to roll the logs.

Oh yeah. I talked with a dolmar dealer Thursday that said the new 7900 topends have a new top cover and decomp in the top. I'm guessing Mahle is just making one cylinder now for the 7900/681. May be a lot cheaper option now. It was only $233 I believe for the top cover and all.
