Title: Jonsered 2054 bar studs
Post by: dirtzilla on September 07, 2014, 10:34:31 pm
Hi guys, I have to replace one of the studs holding the chain bar, I tried heating the stud with a small propane touch but the stud won't move, is this a reverse thread stud ???
thanks,

I'm not really familiar with that saw but most of the Jonsered and Husqvarna saws have pressed in bar studs from the inside of the oil tank.  Drain your oil tank, look in through the oil fill and you'll probably see the shoulder of the stud.  Just knock it into the tank with a hammer and fish it out.  The new stud can be pulled into the case with a the normal bar nut and a spacer (a larger nut).

Yep 2054 press in like he stated above.   Tap them back into the tank to remove.

Use a magnet ext rod to go back in tank to install in hole.  Holds stud on end easily.    Then do as he says with nut to snog back up. Make sure head inside of tank is aligned with slots too. To keep from twisting etc.

not on this model, the muffler it right behind the  studs, after cleaning the dirt out now I can the stud bolt head, but I will have to remove the muffler to push stud out , I don't know if that's a good idea as this is a old saw, do this screws tend to seize  in thread because of all the heat or it should be ok.
thanks for the replies and pic guys.

Then that makes your job easier IMO.  I dont know a 2054.  Must be set up like 5000 bar studs behind the muffler.  Easy as heck.  still  just knock them back through and easier to install now.

I wonder is bolts securing muffler tend to be seized up, they are pretty small

I have twisted of many not fun fix after that.  Use PB Blaster and let soak.    Might be able to use a little heat right there too.

My Jonsered 450 is the same way, have to take muffler out to get to bar studs. Now where do I get the bar studs from?
