PHO, Just hoping it balances with 12" for 1 handing. Thats the reason I passed on the dolmar 3410 earlier with new b+c.

So is the echo 300 340 345 newer or older versions of the 3000 3400 3450?

echo 3000 3400 3450 operators manual http://www.echo-usa.com/getattachment/d0df77a6-23ce-4f5f-96d3-ee5f3db2b5ab

The 4 digit ones manual shows 02 and the 3 digit ones manual shows 05. So maybe newer.  ???

On its way. Sure hope it balances like my 338's did for 1 handing.

Looks like I might need a clutch cover with brake etc.   Know where a used one is but little pricey  ::) :o

Last owner 2011 to present said muffler modded and primer bypassed already too.

Arrived.

Switched out the starter handle to a smaller lighter echo handle.

Put 12" and stihl 63PS chain on it.

Tuned carb to my mix and dropped it down to 11K.

Feels like a 1 handing trim saw to me.   ;) ;D

The NGK CM6 type spark plugs and their different reaches have 5/8" flats and 10mm threads

Knowing you, you will never wear it out or even hurt it. Eventually, after a few years, it will be traded for another model?

Still want even smaller and lighter like a echo 271 or stihl 150. But this will do for now.

Just glad I didnt jump on the 540 bandwagon after I sold my last 338 to buy one. I was in the wait and see what others thought that I trust their word and not just hype talk of new owner types. Not impressed with the weight or rear end weight of 540.  Didnt see where it was much more if any over this little echo in the cut in 12" either.

I use the Stihl MS 250/025 for pruning. They are actually too big and heavy for reaching. I keep a 025 and a 7900 handy in the garage in case of storm damage.

I had a big pine top blow onto the driveway last January and I cut it up with the 346XP.

I got along OK with a Mac 3214 for what it was especially after the muffler mod but didn't like the Mini Mac 10 ever.

Though it was more of a firewood saw, I used the Homelite XL150 many years for pruning from the ground until my hands couldn't stand the vibration anymore.

Working off a ladder is difficult at best and should never be done with a two hand saw.

I suppose that's where a top handle comes into play? 10"/12" bar category. A 14" seems huge on a top handle?

Does your new 340 use the small reed valve engine like the 341?  The reed engines dont rev as high as the piston ported design but they have a nice smooth even power band and run forever.

If your interested in an Owners Manual or IPL (parts diagram) use this link: http://www.echo-usa.com/Support-Help/FAQs.  If you search out the specs, sometimes they will offer additional info like whether that model has the slope advance ignition system and/or which engine series it is of. (power boost)

Looks like it is in nice shape.

Yep it has a reed. Shhhh dont tell any of these guys, they know I dont by reed saws.   ;) :P

Yep lower rpm wot set at 11K but feels like it holds most of it in the cut even for such a small cc saw.

Couldnt pass it up.   Just hoping it balances with 12" for (1 HANDING). Thats the reason I passed on the dolmar 3410 earlier  with new b+c.

That's how injuries happen.

Busted!  I knew you were a closet reed valve guy Kevin.8)

I like Echo saws.  You did very well getting that little bugger.  I have a buddy who climbs with an orange 340T.  Seems to like it.

Shhhhhh Aaron only the small saws are getting away with it.   ;D

I did find a clutch cover with hand guard and brake out your way. Just thought I may want it when 1 handing starts this spring.

Be aware the recoil starter on them isn't the sturdiest.  They don't take to long arming and cold weather makes the plastic brittle.

I've been selling those types on C'list for 150 a copy.
