Just been inside my old 980. Someone who knows what they are doing should be able to make a good 5 cube racer out of one.
I am just cleaning up a few internal things for a small race.

-

thanks,,and man,,thats moving!! oly

Well funs over for the summer. Had our little GTG/race today in memory of our Husky dealer. New dealer had some 562's for use to play with. Good saw, alittle behind my 2159. ;)
The old 980 came thru and won its class. Put a 9 pin gear on it and got a sub 5 sec run out of it. May play with it some this winter. Play is done, next time I pick up a saw it will be to work it.

An Oleo-Mac is a rare bird in itself, selom seen .Fact the only one I've ever seen was Gypos' 999 which is rather famous or infamous depending on how you look at it .
-
The 980 belonged to Gypo at one time also. It has great torgue, going to find some speed this winter.
-
olympyk 980 same saw as efco 80cc ? Can you still get parts?

Was just looking into one that was for sale.
-
That's the same as a John Deere CS81? If so, they can be made to run really well, like this one!

-
Pretty sure they are the same. But not 100%
Like the green, different to look at.
-
I got to run a ported 980 at a gtg and it was a strong runner for sure.
-
There are some differences, porting, carbs, etc. Most are just update changes and parts will swap.
-
I know I put these here somewhere else too. But was looking up specs.
efco data sheets. owner's manuals and part lists for current and past products. http://www.efcopower.com/resources/data-sheets

I should have the size on the shop computer, will check Monday. I will drain and weigh a 980 and 7200 this week. Both feel heavier than my 2166.

Hauled out the old 980. Been sitting for 2 years. Took it to a small for fun race at the local Ex. Fresh gas and 9 pin rim. Came home with 1st place and $20.
