Anyone got info on this riding mower motor. Good bad etc?

I know this is a very old thread.  But, I just bought a new Cub Cadet zero turn mower with this motor.  It came highly regarded by a number of different people.  Supposedly it has more torque than the 24 hp Kohler.  We will see how it pans out.  But, the early hours with it are terrific.

Just had a guy tell me he likes his 25hp kohler on his zero turns better the the kaw ones.   So be interesting to see what you think.

I'm not going to have a good frame of reference for comparison.  I needed a zero turn.  I shopped all winter and looked at just about every brand.  I always made a point of talking to the shop guys.  Every place I went the shop guys preferred the Kawasaki for reliability over Kohler.  The only thing I can say definitively is that the Kaw is quieter.  It will take a couple of years to have something of an informed opinion.

I thought Kaw would be the one to get too. Was just looking at some with it. Thought that was plus.

One update on this Kawasaki engine:  The air filter is in a bad location.  It is low on the back right next to the bagger.   I've been using a bagger.  After each use I have been vacuuming around the filter, then blowing it out from the inside with compressed air.  A scary amount of dirt is coming out.  Kaw does not put a foam pre-filter on their unit.  Kohler does.  I have added a foam pre-filter.  It helped a lot.  Saturday I was at a large auction.  There were about 15 Zero-Turns for sale.  5 of them had this engine.  I checked the air filters.  Every one of them was incredibly dirty. 

I'm thinking I might go with a bit of a snorkel set up to get it up higher with a K&N filter.  It's 2" semi-rigid hose.  Shouldn't be that hard to come up with an alternative. 

Other than that this thing has been great so far.  But, I don't like tempting fate with all that dirt.
