Title: Jonsered Heavy Duty Air Filters CS 2172's etc....
Post by: Grande Dog on June 12, 2015, 04:28:28 pm
     Howdy,
Getting both feet wet with a Jonsered Dealership. I was looking at the 2172's and noticed that there isn't a Heavy Duty Air Filter set up for it. That isn't going to get it done on a pro saw around here.
Long story short, I'm having black Heavy Duty Air Filter Covers molded so that the same HD filters that go on the Husqvarna's will retrofit to the Jonsered. For the new saw sales we'll be switching them out beforehand as a value added deal. Everything used in the conversion will be OEM except the cover itself.
We will be selling the cover by themselves for people who have the bits and pieces to put the rest together.
I also want to put together a conversion kit. Once again the cover itself would be aftermarket but, the $64 question is whether people would want a kit all AM parts at a better price or, the AM cover with OEM components?
Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
Regards
Gregg

Very cool on having the jonsered HD air filter covers made up to do the conversion. WTG!

Cool deal. The flocked aftermarket I've used on the 372 seems pretty good.

I would rather have am cover and oem components. Great job on doing this. It is going to make a lot of happy people

My experience with these innovative devices is that the manufacturer will soon bring out the cover themselves if they think the local entrepreneur is making anything from it?

Seen the Chinese include in their design to put a single USA mom & pop machine shop out of business who had come up with a improvement. This happened as soon as it was publicized on the Internet. They initially made the price so low that it was impossible for the machine shop to compete. Then a year later upped the price.

Glad to see you're selling Jonsereds now Gregg.  An HD filter option for the 2188 would be a good idea too.

Also, I see that you're carrying the 2172W alongside the non W version.  I suggest you add the 2188W to the lineup too.

Will you be in the shop next Saturday (6/27)?  I may stop by sometime late in the AM.  I'm meeting some friends at Lumberjacks for lunch at noon.

Edit:

I just checked your hours of operation, and I see that the shop isn't open on Saturday.  Dangit.  I'll have to pop in the next time I'm in Willits durning the week.

That sounds about like them.  Sad to see good ole American folks go belly up because of these "outsiders" using there leverage.  My opinion is Flea-Bay and others ought to be for US only!

Gregg did you have any progress with this HD Jonsered filter cover project?

     Howdy,
I actually got as far as sending a deposit to get the mold made. They started to put things in motion when somebody realized they had a decimal point in the wrong place. Needless to say the new quote was way out of site for the return on investment.
Regards
Gregg

Hi Gregg,
The blue 'Eliminator' 288 high top air filters were supposed to have been made for a California company.  Any idea who it was?
