i get nothing on that number. mtd is parent company same mower may be labeled troy bilt or bolens  or other. if motor is original date code might help. does it have variable speed sheave pulley. most mtd products rear transaxle is only forward neutral reverse varaiable speed pulley provides other speeds. find year horsepower deck width number of blades and mtd belt lengths should work .

model and serial number should be on a sticker under the seat. If not then if it is a F&R trans(with the shifter between your legs) with variable speed pulleys that narrows it down to just a handful of belts.

The factory for the riders is 1/4 mi from my house but may as well be in China. I cannot get any parts from there.

Use Nate's info to look up correct numbers.  Under seat is where I get mine.

Then put info in this. http://www.mtdparts.com/equipment/mtdparts

It is a 1997 model. For some reason best known to themselves and the almighty, MTD chose to put the older Yardman products on a separate lookup which was available on microfiche. You may need to have a dealer contact the MTD distributor, they won't deal direct with the end user.
