Has anyone found anything close to the poulan lime green paint in a spray can? Just need to paint a bare half for a work saw.
Dont want any special mixed paint for a spray gun to do a restored saw. Looks not important for this saw and can be left as is.
-
It's pretty close to what they called sea foam green which is what color they painted Euclid pan scrappers and bull dozers .
-
My GM sea foam green 91 S10 4x4 was way different green. I was looking at Kawasaki and they have 6 to 7 different shades of line green.
-
1970 Plymouth "Sublime" is REAL close.
Don't use "Limelight" from 1971, it is way too light.

My cousin is doing a full restore on one of those Super Birds right now. Unfortunately, it is not going to be Sublime green...LOL Thought maybe there was gonna be a source for some paint, on the cheap..

In 87 when I moved in this area I could have bought one for $5000 that was orange in Shelby. I was in Muletown and a guy that worked in the body shop there needed attorney money. Before I could get hold of his mom when I got back up this way someone else had it loaded up and gone. It had a 440.
There is a couple of them on indoor display here in Galion downtown on a rotating basis when you drive the strip.

While looking for my old car pics I come across a old animated cartoon my wife made for me cutting with a green poulan. I thought this was gone years ago. Thank goodness for photobucket.

Chainsawrepair,
I couldn't help but respond after viewing your green chainsaw. Earlier in this thread I indicated that my first Poulan was a combination Sears/Poulan that was made up of combined parts.
It is presently sitting under my bench with a Poulan lime green pull start cover and the main body is Sears red, beautiful two tone saw.
Your tree falling picture came too close to home. Had two large Ash trees next to a creek that had been beaver killed via girdling. The first, bigger tree was not chewed in too deep so falling was no big deal. The smaller tree, 30inch diameter was fairly deep cut by the beavers and a large split had started above the damaged area. Didn't like the looks of that, but didn't want to take the time to chase down a chain and binder to secure the split, which I normally would do, but at my age I have gotten a little lazy and figured everything would go alright if I made my falling cuts right at the ground, below the beaver damage.
Advice for forum members, don't fall deep damaged beaver chewed trees with the beginning of a large split extending from above, down into the beaver chewed area. Climb that sucker, rig a good line on it and pull it down with your crawler. If nothing else, at least, secure the split with adequate chain and good binder set up.
Made the face cut, went fine, knocked out the wedge, checked location for back cut and sunk the old Jonsered 910E into her. Kept everything lined up and level. Saw the top start to wiggle, headed out on a 45 degree escape route and luckily the tree started moving real slow. Set the saw down a dozen feet or so from the tree and at that point, all hell broke loose. I didn't view all of the details since I was on route from the area, but upon review, it appeared the split slab had kicked straight back, the main body of the tree fell where I had hoped, but the tree, having been dead for three years was well tangled in the canopy and all of the top material came straight down, producing a huge shower of refuse like I could not believe.
Your green saw animation came way too close to replicating my outcome. In one respect a bunch of things went wrong and in another respect, luck was on my side. The only thing I actually did correctly was plan and execute my escape route.
After many years of falling trees, this was the worst screw up that came to mind. I survived, my equipment was undamaged, I cut the stump off at the ground so none of my buddies could see what I had done. With that I broke for lunch and took some extra time to think that one over.
Was definitely not proud of that tree falling effort. Brought back to mind the dangers of taking short cuts and underestimating potential.
Be safe out there,
Nick, North West Farmer

Hmmm I wonder just how close it would be for the 90's lime green. One Shot Sublime Green

Part number for the Poulan green paint is 532130939.
Doesn't work through the Husky site, but I'd assume it would be in the Poulan system.
532126964 is the Poulan Pro number, which I figure would also work for you Partner guys. ( Also doesn't work in the husky system)

yellow spray can # above code 416 - 421
poulan green # above code 475 - 476.
Thanks for bringing this back up Spike60. I added your codes too.

Since you collector guys have the older poulans and most have seen and owned the newer poulans.
How many different colors of green have you see used from factory so far. I have seen at least 4-5 different shades of green myself.
Wonder why they didnt pick 1 green and just go with it.

Speaking of Louisiana, did you go to the show end of April? http://www.laforestfestival.com/ Joe's show and usually Wayne from Alabama will be there.

Here is a poulan 4200 painted with napa mixed 1970 sub lime green for use in a spray can, then clear coat. Sugar Creek Saws did the stickers.
Belongs to chainsawhispers and stated repainted 4200, color is slightly off.
-
I'm telling you, that jeep gecko pearlcoat is damn close in person. FYI, and Sherwin Williams auto paint store will mix it and put it in a spray can for you. You can also have it mixed in different types of paint, for plastic, wheels, etc. They can even change the finish a bit, like making it less shiny. But really, bring a saw or chip of original paint to them and they will match it, usually perfect. I'd ask for the wheel paint mix and a plastic mix. its pretty damn tough. Last time I had paint mixed and put in a large spray can they charged me 19$, but I wasn't disappointed.
-
This $4 can is good enough for me.
-
Kevin is that the Napa Sublime Green?

Super great coverage too. Only 1 coat needed IMO.
-
Cool. Did you clear coat it afterwards? How does it hold up to gasoline exposure?
-
I didnt clear coat anything. Only because I dont care. I would clear coat if I was worried about it. Didnt clear coat the homemade decals either, should have but again I dont care.
Sorry I'm just not into the painting side of restoring a chainsaw. I like the as used look myself.
I am being careful when filling but bet it wrinkle etc but hoping not to find out.
-
My key lime green 505 looked about the same as the sub lime green 5200 beside it today. Thats how close that green in the can is. Hope somebody got a pic of that.
-
I was looking at those two saws as you were comparing them and there was just not any difference in the color.
-
but isn't there any official color code about that?
Maybe I got it wrong, but till now, by coincidence, a certain company that sells multi purpose paint has a color in its programm that matches.
But this might change basically anytime from now? (new season, new products etc) ?

(very new, very happy and very proud new owner of a lime green ;D )

Part number for the Poulan green paint is 532130939.
There is but have seen 4 or so different shades myself on poulans from oem. Maybe just different batches over the years who knows.

Poulan green is 532130939, code 475 or 476. Husqvarna Jonsered Ashokan Turf and Timber 3144 New York 28, Shokan, NY 12481
845-657-6395
They don't have a website

Thanks so much, but these are also original part and color numbers provided by Poulan or Husky right?
So there is no official or independent code like the "RAL" classification system ?
-
Just trying to save some info before it gets buried and really lost.
Part number for the Poulan green paint is 532130939 so why isnt every poulan green saw the same dang green then. There is pea green like on some older ones and then the brighter green like on the 3300 etc.
There were several different colors through the years.
There is also, always a minor deviation from one paint batch to the next even from the same supplier.
You know how it goes. One day you feel good and the convicts all like you, the next day someone pisses you off before you leave home and everyone thinks you are a butthead.
Same for the paint mixing guy.
Then there are the Poulan engineers.
They get a few complaints from customers about fading and they add a pinch of something here or a dash of something else there.
Even the 1970 Mopar SubLime is just a few shades darker than the 1971 Limelight.
Some aftermarket suppliers are even selling the 1971 Limelight and calling it 1970 SubLime, but it just is NOT!!!
Even todays computer aided blending isn't always exact because some paints are quite different when wet than they are dry.
Mike
Thats what I was thinking Mike. My wording was just bad. Thanks. Batches never come out the same,
Also I was hoping someone would bring up the fact that there is 2 different paint codes for the green ;) they both follow that single number though with different 3 digit codes. I figure early and then later superseded. That right there gives you 2 shades of green itself. Then the different batches from both give you even more shades of green from the 2 colors.
Any other info to share?
How about a match for that different green on the 4900 top cover. Will help Gary out when he paints a cover.
ImNotASwede might of accidentally found a rattle can color real close to the 4900 cover as pointed out by Gary.

Nice Aaron. Never seen a 4900 in person. The saw looks good.

Thanks Roger. One of my favorite saws. Big time torque for 77cc. Traded a nice Homelite 1050A to HomeliteJim for it. Both of us are happy with the trade.:D
I wish my 5200 was that nice. Some day...
-
I ran a 4900 or other series number of that 77cc saw at the poulan gtg and they have great torque in the cut.

Aaron. Just thought of something. Since you have a 4900 with the right top cover. Buy a $4 rattle can of that Ivy Leaf and spray something to see how close it is.
If I bought it and sprayed it I have nothing like a 4900 top cover to compare too, just other green poulans.
-
I can do that. I need to pick up a few different colors to check against saws for upcoming repaint jobs....

Has anyone found a RAL color code for a close match of Poulan green?
Been thinking about trying to find something close to powder coat a saw.

Been thinking about trying to find something close to powder coat a saw.
Did you check the past pages for a code?
Moper SubLime is what most use if you have it mixed for looks.
-
Yes I looked, didn't see any RAL numbers in there.
Liquid paint is easy and cheap to match.
I'm looking for powder numbers. I have a few that might be close. But just wanted to see if anyone else has tried any, before ordering any of them.
-
Thinking of power coating lime green like they are doing with husky orange and stihl grey white?
-
Yes sir, I've done a few Huskys, Red & Green Homelite and a little Stihl white.
I would like to try some Poulan green.
-
New green out for those on the cheap.

I ask on FBG looks alot like the key lime I tried in same brand. Have you compared the 2 of them?
He said The key lime was alot lighter in color. This other one was a shade darker
