Ok- I just bought a Husky 580 backpack blower to replace an older, less powerful Sthil. I also bought a 555 XTorq saw from the same dealer last fall. while i was waiting for the mech to assemble the blower, he asked if I needed oil and I said no, I had a six pack+ of Stihl oil on the shelf.
He then harangued me about how bad that would be for the blower- gunked carb, loaded exhaust valve, burned rings, scored cylinder, on and on till it made me cry :'( (he never said that with the saw tho'...)
Anyway, $14 and a six of Husky oil later, I'm asking other owners what their experience is. I can believe there might be a difference what with Stihl and their funky 4 stroke BS, but is it so bad I need to keep 2 types of gas now?

I'd run the husky oil over the ultra myself. I run mostly klotz oils in my saws. No need for extra oils with it since it mixes with any type of fuel.

Stihl Ultra has a bigger following than the Husky oil.
Either would be fine in any of your 2 stroke air cooled machines. The mechanic was full of BS.
The right type of Klotz would be fine too.

I just make sure that what I am running is 100% synthetic. Some of the husky 2 stroke oil is a blend and not 100%.
I know the Stihl oil is and I have run plenty of it with no issues. Read the label on your Husky oil and see what it says.
I also run what I mix in everything I have. Weed eaters, chain saws, leaf blowers, and those little 2 stroke Mantis tillers. No issues.

What a load of BS. ::) The Stihl oil will work just fine, he is worried about losing sales. The OEM's normally specify a richer mix when not using their brand, performance suffers, carbon builds up, the unit smokes and the customer is not happy. Therefore, use only our brand ka-ching ka-ching.

Amsoil saber at 40-50:1 will burn cleaner than the stihl as well. It's not expensive and on the shelf at several auto parts places.

I had a fellow here in town give me some of the Amsoil and I have run a bunch of it also. No complaints here.

This is JMO. As long as that 6pak isnt that orange bottle stihl dino stuff. Any other oils seem fine.
But that orange bottle stuff I have seen screens clogged in small saws and weed eaters. Homeowners sold orange bottle stuff with their new OPE EQ.
