Are a 1312 and a 1314 coil for a 046/ms460 the same. Did the 1314 replace it or something like that? Looks similar based on pics.

Just my WAG. 1314 is the last part number shown in the 046 460 IPL's and one used on the farmtec coils. Betting just updated part numbers from 12 to 14

You can run either one of those ignition modules. Need the new pass code for my program from my dealer. Then maybe I can do a little more research and tell you the difference. i think the only difference between them was the length of the ignition lead when you bought them. The 1312 for the 046-460 and the 1314 for the 660. Then stihl just went with the 1314 to keep it simple.

I was ask this question on the farmtec coil for 460 that has the longer 660 leads.
(Do you know if on the farmer tec ignition coils, I can trim the lead wire shorter. The plug is several inches longer than oem lead wire. Didn't want to try and unscrew it and wreck the coil if it didn't have the option.)
Dont these just unscrew? Not sure being farmtec

Boot end does not, it just spins the coil connector. The coil end unscrews from the coil itself since it has a threaded screw sticking out. I cut off what I needed and rethread onto the screw until secure. I hope that was right lol. I have spark and it starts up then shuts right off. I believe I need some readjusting of either carb or magneto gap which I just slipped a business card to check and make sure it wasn't going to rub.

Slip card in while coil is loose. Let draw up on flywheel magnets. The tighten down. Pull car out and should be some pull against you puling card out.
The boot should pull off.
I was asking for you IF the coil wire lead unscrews out of coil itself.
There is this inside the boot that is pinned to wire.

When I tried to unscrew the boot off of the lead wire that metal spring or whatever it's called ended up rotating sideways and I had to straighten it out with a small screwdriver. I hope that didn't affect anything internally and be the cause of the quick shutoff of the saw.
