Title: HELP! Eager Beaver Body Repair

Hey all,

I've been reconditioning and repairing chainsaws for the past two years and I really enjoy seeing them kick off again, but I am inexperienced and I have no idea what to do in this situation. I inherited this chainsaw from a friend and they have made a dogs breakfast out of it. It's an old McCulloch - Eager Beaver and had a **** piston ring. When they tried to remove the bolt the head snapped, and this is where it gets good, they drilled the blazes out of it! Now there is a gaping hole and I need to fill it in somehow (welding etc.)? Now what do I do? Any help is greatly appreciated, I'd love to get this baby going again!  :D

honestly I wouldn't bother would cost you way more than you would get out of it. But if you really want to get it going best option would be  pick up a parts saw and make one out of the two.

That's fair enough, I have found one that I can use for parts which is good. Although I hate admitting defeat and I want to at least try so I can learn something. I've heard you can use aluminium brazing? However it depends on the steel so I may need to find someone with a mig welder? Anyone have any suggestions?

iF iTS A MAGNESIUM CASTING INSTEAD OF ALUMINIUM YOU ARE GONNA WIND UP WITH A FIREBALL IF YOU TRY BRAZING IT so be really carefull do more checking there are some great you tube vids on dismantling the small macs type in chainsaw guy mac repair and go from there
