I've been sharpening my chains for my 3300 and see 2 of them have a 33 stamped on them every other link. The other chain has a K1 stamped every other link. I just replaced my clutch sprocket on the saw today and wonder if these chains are the same. Or should I start with a completely new chain from or especially for a Poulan. Also the chainsaw shop where I bought a new chain file today recommended a 5/32" file. I have misplaced the one I have been previously using and it was 3/32". Which is the correct one for this saw?

K1 is 325 050 also.
Some of the 325 chains have small cutter and use 5/32 files. Most 325 today use 3/16 files. You can file the smaller cutters with 3/16 files as I do it too.
33 oregon is 325 050 too 5/32 file
If you get a chance buy you some oregon LPX.

Cut4fun what is Oregon LPX, I'm a novice at this.

Your K1 is a Carlton chain but there are many models.
The 33 Oregon chain is a safety low kickback chain. The chain is no longer made. A friend of mine spent a day at the Blount plant in Ontario where they make much of the Oregon chain. They said that 33 type chain was terrible at clearing chips and was slow.
The LPX that Kevin referred to is a pro type chain and cuts much faster but has no safety bumper links.

Type 33 chain. I had a similar 3/8 low profile chain some years ago and it was slow even when new. You can see why the fish-backs interfered with chip clearance. Click on detail view.

I can attest to the LPX chain. We had some high winds like we usually do this time of the year to blow over some oaks. I run 72DL loops of RS or LPX chain on my 357xp and had a sharp LPX on the saw. I cut up all the wood I wanted haul and then some with out going to the box for another chain. The LPX chain stays sharp, clears the chips well and cuts fast.
