are the echo short blocks the same I need to replace one I have a early one will a newer one work or is there a difference ?
-
They are the same. Weather it's a kiortz or a yamabiko.
-
While you're at it, you might as well turn it into a 400. Same saw, only more power.
-
is the bore and stroke the same?
-
The bore is larger on the 400, that is the only difference. You mentioned a new shortblock, so you could drop in a 370 or a 400.
I wonder why Echo makes their saws so close in size of the motors while they are housed in the same basic saw? ie: CS-310 & CS-352 and the CS-370 & CS-400

You could ask the same question about stihl, husqvarna, poulan etc. Heck, even the car manufacturers do it.
-
stihl 290 310 390 did the same thing
stihl 021 023 025
poulan 415 445 475 505
husky OE NE 42mm 44.3mm 346 353 had 44mm 45mm
dolmar makita 6400 7300 7900
poulan 2800 3000 3300 285 305 335
Just to name a few

Also the CS400 has a automatic fast idle when you pull the choke, the CS370 you have pull the throttle and push a button in. No big deal. Steve
