Title: 2012 550xp/ installing latest carb need help.
Post by: Jason K on July 08, 2017, 10:01:37 am
I have another new old stock 2012 for year. Dealer threw in the latest carb for it. in the box install frimware. Next the saw only been test fired on old carb for about 1 min. That is all it has ever seen for running. I wondering do I need to have someone reset the computer for new carb?

Thanks
Jason

JMO I would do the  FULL THROTTLE in wood 3-5mins per owners manual. Just keep making cuts with bar buried if you can and see.

straight from owners manual = The following steps should be taken when the chain saw
is started for the first time or when outside circumstances
change (fuel, altitude, air filter etc.): Start the engine.
Accelerate the engine to full throttle and saw a number of
cuts in a thick log (3-5 min.).
The chain saw must be run (8,000 - 12,000 rpm) the entire
time so that the carburettor can adjust itself. ------- 8K to 12K must be kept up in rpm in the cuts.

About ready to sell it now. I can not find a dealer with in 130 miles of my house that mite come close of doing the frimware update on the new carb.WHAT THE HLL....That is very sad. I know my stihl dealer know his stuff and more. Just seems they have there far share of troubles( Husqvarna).. If I do sell I am buying a MS261V2. The old husky's are good this new s--t seems like junk. Very let down:(

To make those 3-5 minutes cuts at WOT,  it's best to stand a log round on end and make long rip cuts side by side down through it rather then cut cookies.

My new 2016 550XP manual np longer recommends the 3 to 5 minute WOT....just run it until it runs good ???

Spike 60 informed me to get my Husqvarna dealer to update his tech bulletins with the latest codes to reset the fuel settings.
Can't remember the code#. I'm away on holidays at the moment.
