Title: New Boards needed?
Post by: Cut4fun . on January 14, 2012, 10:13:32 am
Saws in Action

Firewood, Logging, Milling, Limbing, Ripping, Cookies. Lets see those  saws in action at work or play, pics, video of how you make a living or your play saws cutting those cookies.

Seems there might be a spot for this for those that want to share there work or play. Lets see.

I got a ton of pictures on take downs .Too bad I didn't have a video photograper assistant  because they would have made pretty neat vid clips .A hundred foot tree hitting the deck makes a mighty thump ,shakes the ground like a mini earth quake .

I cut a big oak last week for Dad. Forgot to take the camera to video it. My sister videoed it from my nieces house. She was far enough away that the mm saw could not be heard on the video. Not so when the tree hit the frozen ground. It could be heard over 1/2 mile away.

Will get some pics tomorrow when I start to block it up.

I'm easy Kevin, I just threw that up to see what happens, to me those are just another day in the office, but others may like seeing them.

This was a old thread telling about that new board I moved your post to.   I just bumped it up to see if any need for other boards.

There has been a couple request for a Pioneer chainsaw board.   Just finished it and right under Redmax board till it moves up the list.

More popular the board the higher up it goes on the chainsaw board.  So have at it.

Seems like alphabetical would be a logical way to sort out all the saw boards. Doesn't matter a whole lot to me but if I was looking for a particular brand I'd have a clue where to look for it.

alphabetical,   sorry not happening.

So is there any other  boards that need to be created for you folks?

Something you think would be used by more then 1 or 2 members hopefully and would help all of us learn from.

Well perhaps one for known problems and fixes be the fix from the manufacturer or not. Or better yet issues that have a cure and problems that are just that 'problems with no known cure'. Perhaps a 'sticky' thread at the top of each brand board would be better since you could go directly to the brand you are working on instead of sorting through a mixed thread.

Maybe a board just for sticky threads. Really jams up the board with all the sticky threads at the top. For example the how to  board.

How about a Library for manuals?  Most of the time you can find the IPL online, but not the shop manual.

I thought about that one too. I was thinking maybe a sub-forum off of the original. But then I thought the newer  folks would start asking the same questions already in the sticky in the how to area again.

We have been posting shop manuals when we find them in the IPL and Manuals board with model listed in thread.  Also shop manuals in the thread of  the saw model too.

Cant do stihls this way though do to their eyes and threats of suing.

New board from the Stickys How To's created.  It called it a Child board off of original board and cant figure out how to change that to Sub forum.

Lets see how that works out for awhile.

Didnt like not being able to change the name of a sub forum from Childs forum. So I made stickys how to's its own board above the original board.

I like it cleans up the how to board. Thanks for doing that.

I just wish I could have made it a sub forum without childs board name  ??? . Someday I might figure it out.  ::)

I like Killians suggestion.

I like Killians suggestion.

He was a moderator at one time and could have done that.  Just to many to keep track of IMO.

Most folks like myself put  the problem and the fix in the same threads as we do them.

How about a board just for carb fixes and modifications? You can go pretty deep into modding carbs

Carb Fixes and Mods    Does that sound OK?

When I get the board done I will move some carb threads with look up info to them too.  Plus Scott's HDA 199 thread fix.

They are just in each saw brand and model thread so far.

Poulan has a sticky going of it's saw weights. Thanks to Roger.

If folks think it would be good. We could make a board just for weights PHO dry?  Then keep it by brand and model number so not to get all crazy trying to find a particular saw.
Title: Re: New Boards needed?
Post by: Cut4fun . on February 08, 2015, 09:18:11 am
So what did you all decide on?  Just do a sticky thread in each brand board?    or do a new board for just weights?  or leave as is and then you have to do a search and dig through a thread it is in?

Let me know because I have some saved in my pics for years now too.

I look for PHO dry weights.  Because as used IMO changes by bar length, bar type, chain length, chain type, fuel held, bar oil held, handle type,  etc etc etc to many variables IMHO from one user to the next.
