Had to remove a pine that was crowding a garage. Used my ported 962. Here are some tools of the trade.
I prefer wedges but in winter with snow covered trees the lever is my choice. The miracle wedge is there also. It is more for freeing a stuck saw but I included it for those who have never seen one.

Showing how a lever is used. Tree was leaning back a good amount.

How much of a top did that tree have? I might need to get me one of those bars.

The tree was 80 ft tall. At about the 20 foot mark it took a 15 degree lean back then at the 40 ft mark it leaned toward a the camera. Limbs started at 14 feet.
The lever is a great tool. I'll never be without one. You can lift as in the video or push down. Usually I put my knee on it and put my weight on it. Too much lift needed on that pine. I may do a video showing other ways to use it.

Nice cuts Art, very level back cuts.
Just for fun, do you always bore cut in, then around the back?
I usually start my back cut from the side, but you've done a million more then me.

I would normally back cut from the off side. With the lean toward the camera (house) I wanted to finish on the light side for maximum control.

Keep posting how to'setc please. I am watching and trying to soak it all in.
I have had to many close calls with my few and unexperienced drops.

In a clearcut I don't really care how I cut a tree. Mostly it depends on which side of the tree I walk up on. For problem trees however the way I did in the video gives me a better "feel" of what is happening in the cut. You can actually feel what the tree is doing thru the saw.

Great info here; please keep it coming!
