Title: Stihl 042 clutch side crank seal needed ASAP

I need the clutch side crank seal!  I accidentally install my only new one in too deep and it rubbed the garter spring off on the bearing.

Anyone have a spare? I don't have 2 weeks to wait for one from German Ebay....

I think that seal is just plain unobtainable .I have one but I need it .It was one of those deals where Stihl controlled the market and nobody else could sell it .Every so often one comes up on flea for a kings ransom .

That is where I originally ordered from, also found a 042/048 case gasket (also near impossible to find) from him.
Takes about 8-10 days to receive....

You can get a brand new one overnight by simply going to a bearing supply store and bring the specs,outside diameter in mm,width,and inner diameter-don't try to measure the hole in the seal,measure the crank. Then be SURE to specify a DUAL-LIP seal. You can get any seal you need this way,and far cheaper than original parts. But all factory seals are dual lip,but if you don't specify dual lip at a bearing supply when you order it they will automatically send you a single lip which isn't as good.
Same with main bearings,why pay twice as much to get the brand bearing from a OEM dealer when you can get exactly the same bearing for half the price at a Bearing supply,and get it overnight if you need to.

That seal,Stihl #9640-003-3990 is 20x35.8 x 4 in case you want to try something in "generic .
