Shawn showing ec pos saws cant even drill a hole straight. Just like the 3140 = crooked. He said he is batting a 1000 on crooked holes so far.

Oh my .Well I questioned the way he did things a long time ago but it was none of my business ,wasn't my saws .After seeing this I now see why he and Cliff had me cutting parts for those 3120 Hottys . By the looks of that machining he damned certain could not  have done it .It's really a shame .
It's been a long time ago but I sent him enough indexable carbide inserts with the holders he certainly at that time had enough good tooling he certainly should have done a  better job .Evidently didn't have the skill level.
I never had the desire to build an alkie burner but if I did it wouldn't  look like that for certain  .I'd be interested  to see what the pipe looks like .Then again he might not have built it .I'll just say again it's a shame .

A thought occured to me .Again this was some time ago but the guy in question sent me a race chain which I thought was very nice of him .While it did cut better than mine it really wasn't that much better than mine .At "Twin Turbines " GTG is the last time I ever saw it .Don't have a clue what became of it and was questioned if I still had it by the person who filed it .I can't help but wonder now .  I was fliting around generally just shooting the breeze and never paid attention to who was milling around my truck where I had a bunch of McCulloch stuff . I'm not assuming or implying any thing but somebody hooked it when I wasn't looking .Couple of the guys had reed valve Macs and didn't know how the tune them and I was just trying to help out .A great unsolved mystery . ???

Just from my recollection for some reason he always hit the brake on a shut down .I didn't know exactly why then but I suspect way too lean now .On the flip side Cliff had them in my opinion rich but my Lawdy would those things pull .Lets face it Cliff knew what he was doing .
Now that I stop and think about it EC always went for high RPMs with shallow drag links on the chain .Maybe 20-22 thou taking little bites .Cliff had the r's but I think it was more torque at lower RPMs .I never asked him but I imagine he would have told me ..That's just an observation on my part and I could be completely off .

Funny part about that time period is the amount of people who tried to peddle off hottys to me .Like I was interested in a 5000 dollar toy .Good Lawd if I wanted that I'd have built it myself which I had no interest in doing .I certainly don't at this stage in life .That subject was one of the few things Cahoon ,Tom F and myself agreed on ,build the damned thing yourself .

Another thing happened strictly by accident .The 038 Mag I put some soup to all the sudden ran like a scalded ape .I mean wind up,didn't loose power but would not return to idle .I'll bet it was idling at around 6000 RPM on just the idle jet .Torn boot sucking air after the carb .Then it dawned on me why a certain fellow always hit the brake .Air after doesn't have the same effect as air though a bad seal but neither would be good .I didn't do any damage thank goodness but I think I learned something .

Rambling on just a general critique .You can not expect to drill an accurate hole with a hand held drill motor which is exactly what has been shown .You need to have the part clamped and trued with the drill spindle .To further add you cannot get an accurate hole for a threaded fastener using a twist drill ,it should have a reamer on the last pass .Reamers  are not that costly on flea bay .
If I would have done it the part would have been clamped on the table of a milling machine then use a multi pass drilling method with the hole entrance chamfered .
Something like a threaded hole on a car trailer or like isn't that important but on an engine it certainly is or any other prescision type of thing .I'm real anal on my  machining work .Might take longer but certainly is better result .If it's worth doing do it right  :) .

Shawn  @SquareFile said that pos cant even spell machinist, let alone pretend to be one.      Heck even I have to use spell check   :D :P

These damned things get passed around so much it's really hard to determine  who screwed up what .Remember old Gypos Oleo-Mac  999 or whatever it was .Big Dave in about 20 minutes with a die grinder fixed it .--and never measured   a thing, just drank some more wine and had at it .Something like 4-5 people had been in to it before .Damned saw had  2000 travel miles on it if not more .I think John took that thing to the Northwestern Territories  with him and later sold it .That saw became famous though .
There was just so much wrong with that build in question .A poster child for what not to do .
