Been working on other peoples hand held leaf blowers here lately. stihl and husky homeowner small models.

Well after testing them out I think I have a use for one.


What is more important? CFM rating or MPH speed

I do like the ones with the flat end directing air tighter area then the big round looking end ones.

If I can get a backpack for about $70 more then handheld is it a advantage to it?

I'm looking at homeowner use and to blow loose gravel back into driveway instead of raking my 700' drive every freaking year.

I used a husky 225 today and it even was able to do it as small as it was.

Suggestions on make, models and hand held and back pack models.

I have a Echo PB2400 that a guy in Alabama gave me some seven years ago. I eventually had to put a metering diaphragm in it last year.

I also have a Craftsman/Poulan 32cc that a local chainsaw friend gave me and said it didn't run. Someone must have given it to him with that idea. It runs fine.

Anyway, they are both hand held and seem to have about the same velocity with a flattened end on the nozzle.

The Echo is better quality but as far as utility and ergonomics goes, one is about as good as the other. I have used them both to blow leaves in the yard etc and my arms get tired before I'm done.

For doing your driveway, I would recommend a backpack type.

The guy on the north side of your town that does yard work, says for doing a commercial parking lot, a backpack is mandatory.

I have a Stihl hand held now. Used it to clear snow this morning. I like the KM split shaft blower better. Getting one this summer. The smaller backpacks are nice but with my bad shoulders its hard to get in them.

I just tested the handheld husky for about 45mins. Will be going with backpack style for sure now. 

Being this is for my personal homeowner use. I dont feel I need commercial 600 for a couple times a year use. I am looking at the stihl 350 and a husky version close to that size too.

Maybe a way to look at this is the speed might be how far you can throw the leaves, the cfm is how many you can throw that far.
