Saving this from facebook group. Pretty wild redneck fix for NLA pulley that looks to have been one on 3300 3000 305 285 2800 335 etc saws.
Rick = I had to take the sthil recoiler part and cut off half its thickness and epoxy it to mine so that the little dogs would catch and release as you can see it’s not perfect because it’s chewing up these sos sthil parts.

Saving this here. Guy couldnt find a 3450 pulley so he figured out a work around redneck fix. Figure this will help some folks.
- Bigdee I have discovered that a Husqvarna 266 starter pulley can be used as a substitute for the pulley on a Poulan 3450 and related saws. All you need to do is turn down the axle spindle on the recoil housing and grind the Husqvarna pulley hub notches about 3mm deeper. I didn't get to give it a long-term use test before sending it off, but I was so delighted I cranked it over and over again, at least a few dozens of times without a hitch. I plan to do it again on a keeper.

Bigdee saved alot of timing checking = It could work but the 262 pulley is smaller in every dimension than the ones for the 266, (and the 268, 272 and 61) which are close to the Poulan in overall height, 38mm, and outside diameter of the hub, 24.5. The ID of the 262 pulley is 12mm, the Poulan ID is 18 and the 266 is 14, so the 266 let me preserve more meat. Also, generic pulleys for the 61 are cheap.
To save you a little more time, a 17mm hole saw leaves a core that is just shy of 14mm, which fits the 266 pulley. I replaced the 1/4" drill bit at the center of the hole-saw mandrel with a tapered rod to center the saw on the axle without damaging the threaded hole for the pulley-retention screw.
After starting the cut, I raised the centering rod so it wouldn't bottom out in the hole.
