Brad shared a mishap. Took 4 stapes in the back of the head.
Made a big mistake dropping this one. I accidentally cut through the hinge on the far side. The tree fell 90° from the intended direction. As it brushed another tree, a branch broke and came back and hit me in the head. This drove my forehead into the stump where the tree just fell from. Foolishly, this happened because I hung onto the saw to pull it out of the way when the tree came off the stump. I saved the saw, but it nearly cost me my life!

very lucky , just that little limb did that much damage , just think what that other arm on the tree right next to him and the way it fall it almost got that arm , that one would of left more than a mark

(NOT BASHING, shading some humor on this being Brad is OK).
Back in 05-06 my wife made this animation. Even the smiley knew to leave that little poulan behind and start running.

Things can happen and do .I seldom wear a brain bucket but always do if I'm felling in the woods .It's normally is a widow maker you never see until it hits you .
Brad's lucky it didn't break his neck or bash his noggin in .Wow

1 piece of gear I always wear is a hard hat, I'm kind of hard of hearing to say the least and I find I can hear the snaps or any other strange noise alot better wearing the hat , one thing I find funny is lots of people think the hat is going to save you big time and if whats hitting you on the head has any size to it the hat is going to do nothing and I have seen one of our cutters up north get over 60 stitches in his head from the adjustable ban in the hat , a small limb hit him on the head and the band cut him just like a knife and peeled the skin/fresh right off the bone mostly on his fore head , not a nice cut and bad scar afterwards

Can't see the video. Sometimes when my saw was hung in backcut of falling tree I grabbed the starting rope and pulled. Got you further away and was able to stand up and watch for stuff coming at me. Could pull saw away when it came loose. You still gotta duck!

OP of video removed it. Trust me he got hammered into the stump by a break away limb.

Been there and done that . . . (2006)
Felling a tree (not large just 12-14" DBH), - I was pulling the saw out of the cut as the tree was just beginning to fall, a dead limb came down and knocked the saw out of my hands. It tore off and broke the air filter cover and bent the bar on the chainsaw.
I was not hurt except for my hands being wrenched, but the event really scared me. I didn't have a safety helmet but the limb would have probably done more harm than a knot on the head if I had been hit with the limb?
