Title: Echo 400
Post by: Todd9317 on November 10, 2020, 04:29:51 pm
Tried to remove clutch from CS-400.  i put back on and now the pull rope just clicks

I was replacing the sprocket on the saw.  I was able to get the clutch off with a manual socket, but I had to use a impact wrench to put it back on.  When I went to start it, the pull rope pulled all the way out, but only made clicking sounds.  The gear were not engaging.

Have I ruined this saw for good?

Just making sure since you have ES.  Were are talking about CS-400 chainsaw right?

IMO no need to use a impact to install. Hand tighten.  Then put bar chain on and go sink it in cut.

Pull your recoil and look for damage to pawls or pulley area, etc.  Just my WAG.
Also appears in the IPL it has a easy start spring. Could have broke that where goes into the plastic areas.
Pull that recoil.
