Title: Poulan 425
Post by: Cut4fun on April 18, 2012, 06:50:58 am
Well as much as I tried to buy a echo 8000 parts saw and being told it just sold to another. I stumbled across a poulan pro 425 in a thousand pieces  :o.
Suppose to have bad crank bearings and looked like some smacked the end of crank I was told. Time will tell. Worse case scenario it will help   finish my poulan pro 475 project.

You'll NEVER get them weeded out if you keep buying 2 every time you sell one!!!LOL

Some of you poulan guys are wondering what  poulan to use for a 4 cube build. I would choose a 415 or 425 if I was using a poulan for a hot woods build or racesaw.   Jerry Gingras is proof the poulan 475 will run with any 5 cube alky saws out there.  ;)

Check out the sweet looking poulan cylinder.   Some of the stuff the porters are doing to the 365 372 huskys is already done for you on the poulan.  ;)

Hope you get good use out of the parts i see you work with partner saws i have access to about 20 stripped down saws from the 500 up to a P85 would be mostly piston cylinder and crank case no recoil covers or chain brake/bar covers if you need anything there was a P70 with haeted handles but i think its gone i would have to check thanks Tom

Very nice, but remember that it is a Husqvarna built saw, so not a real surprice!   ;)

I thought it was a Partner design? Then bought out and built in Husky?

Put the 425 top end with quad transfers on the 505 crankcase today so I can compare it to the 415 475 and Husky 362xp 365 SP . Right now it was pulling full comp and 24". Will be dropping the 65cc saws to 20's for testing.

Anyone know how many years the poulan 425 was made?  I am finding 1994 and 1996 listed for retail sells, so guessing 94 95 96 .

Just wondering if I should find another crankcase and crank to use for my orange project poulan, if the saw was a short run. My other parts 505 has white death inside crank area and crank was no good.

Just so folks know. 415 425 topends were the same.  The 425 was IMO a updated 415 with the same bearing and oiler set up as 505 445.
