Poulan / Poulan 3700 piston crown thickness
« Last post by Cut4fun on February 21, 2026, 07:39:10 am »
Never ever measure that area on these.

Pic of it?  So it is thin ring piston right?  3800 is thick and matters for which cylinder they can go in.

3700 p I sold to a guy. No none left just in a runner.

A couple inside turns of the rewind spring broke off . Has anyone ever tried to heat up the end and try to reform it? I hate to **** away money if I don't have to.

I used a screw in piston stop to remove the clutch and it left a divot in the center of the crown. Anyone know how thick the crown is and whether the piston can handle it? I used to stuff a starter rope thru the spark plug hole , but I'm thinking a stihl locking strip might be a better idea. What do you all use?

I know nothing about macs.

But here is the collectors website run by a Magnus from Sweden.

Searching 1-70 came up with 344 matches talking about them.

Bet they know a thing or 2.  http://www.chainsawcollectors.se/phpbb3/search.php?keywords=1-70

Finally got some time to tinker with the new acquisition today. So I have few question about this saw.  After the clean up I am wondering how many different models were produced of this saw as mine does not look like those listed on the IPL  that I received from Raymond. Thanks again Raymond. Also the gas tank has a preformed liner that looks like a scotch brite pad. It looks like it should be there, however I have never see anything like that in a gas tank.

So all on me. Just wow. SMH
