Good video. Makes me want to find a 930 even more if they're stronger than a 288.

I have an 088 so it's not that heavy.

The saw showing on the tube video before clicking it to watch. 2077-2083? Never mind seen it in video 2083.

Can use aftermarket piston or oem 660 066, 54mm 2083 use a 066 piston, open piston pin bosses.  52mm 2083II 2077 I use BB372 pistons.

Partner design built in the husqvarna plant.

How do they run as compared to stock? Or is the "skirt" close enough there is no difference either positive or negative? The prior owner claimed the local saw shop put a 288 piston in the saw. I don't think they did after tear down. Might have put 54mm ring with a 288 packaging label as that piston looks like the stock 2077 only 2mm less in dia. In articular spike60 had mentioned where the connecting rod/wrist pin sits in the piston would be different. Not having a new piston for either, I measured the stock 2077... which I do have and found the dimension to be the same. Looks like they just took the old scuffed piston and buffed it and stuffed it back in with a new ring. It didn't last a week apparently... so it's on my bench. There has to be another issue . Fuel starvation caused by something. So its getting a carb kit and hoses (Pulse & fuel) to hope I "shotgun" mechanic the issue. Hoping it's not case seals.... don't have a good bearing house to match things up with unless I go to Syracuse....Think  I may need to cob together a vacuum test for it.

I have a good 2077 52mm top end that's going on the saw for now though.

Threads with info.

If it is 52mm it is 2077 or 2083II. 2083 54mm

http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/poulan/lime-green-505/

I seen that too. But when I compared the 066 piston it  looked better to use IMO. Thats what is going in one of my 505.

Stihl 066 660    54mm
Piston Pin 12mm x 8mm x 33mm
Pin top to top of Piston 17mm
Height 43mm

Stihl 046 460  Big Bore   54mm
Piston Pin 12mm x 7mm x 35mm
Pin to top of Piston 15.5mm
Height 36.5mm

Stihl 066, MS 660
Replaces Part Number 1122 030 2005
Bore 54mm
Rings 54mm x 1.0mm
Height 42.75mm
Head Type Flat
Piston Pin 12mm x 36mm x 7.75mm
Compression/Pin to top of Piston 17.0mm

I think this was the oem 505
top of pin hole to crown 16.75mm
height 42.65mm
pin 12mm

BB7900 specs
Height 40mm
Pin 12mm x 7mm x 32mm
Pin hole top to top of Piston 13.25mm

man of stihl on February 24, 2013

066 Meteor piston is .020 higher then 2083 OEM piston. Squish with gasket, OEM piston was .041. With 066 piston squish is at .021. Comp is at 170 pounds. The 2083 rod is wider than the 066, piston needs to be opened up. Runs good ;).

Cut4fun
Ron I paid closer attention to my measurements this time and measured the squish closer to where the piston and cylinder  intersect.   I came up with .0245 at tightest on the afm 066 piston with used gasket.

The oem 505 one on the other saw when I installed today was .040 with new oem gasket.  I checked the 425 top before puling it and it was .0435 with used gasket.
