CS2165 Turbo is it worth it or not
« on: July 07, 2014, 10:02:08 pm »
I got home there was a message on my phone. It was the ex jonsered dealer 10 miles away from me before the big change. He told me there is a CS2165 turbo he has that he would give me to get it out of there. Well I picked it up.It is a told mess and missing parts.Top cover, muffler, clutch cover, top handle, bar, chain and coil missing. It has been ridin hard and put away wet not the best looking at all. I did check there is no score marks in the cylinder or on the piston. Spark Plug looked good like it was running right. The thing is Y did they take it apart so much. He told me that is the way he got it 3 yrs ago. Plus he told me he was going to fix her up and resell but now he has no way of getting parts for it for cost. What do you all think? Here's the numbers off of it . 967 17 16-00 below that 01 0800123. So what year is it made in? Also what model is it in Husky? If I do fix it up I need to know what year. Input please on this one. I am just nervours about this one.

Thanks
Jason

Like a Husqvarna 365 special - 2001 week 8

The covers and top handle will need to be Johnny stuff unless you want orange covers on a red crankcase.

The top bar is different between a Husky and a Johnny. The top angle is different. With a red rear handle/gas tank, you will need a Jonsered top bar for the angle is different.

It will be a lovable saw to just make it back stock.

I knew CS stood for chain saw. That what it says on the recoil cover. Is it reallly worth putting money in it being it is missing parts and have no clue why it was parted out? Oh another thing it has limiter caps on the carb so that makes it a EPA model then? I am thinking of maybe ditching all my jonsereds becouse I seen that the prices of the part have jumped a lot. Like the pistion and cylinder. Plus who knows how long they are going around being that they are with a different disturber now. All the dealers around no longer sell them. It is either echo or dolmar they changed to now. Let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks
Jason

Any AM Husqvarna 372 piston/cylinder should the case.  It may not work with the carb/intake you have if you're doesn't have the rubber boot style intake.  It's an easy swap to the 372 style intake though.

I'd redo it.   Used jonsered covers are out there. Could always use husky covers if your own saw. Like Jim said if jonsered tank, must use jred handle. Husky tank you can use husky handle.
Can used husky parts for everything else that isnt red and black. Internal parts etc.

Check that big end crank rod for play in bearing or bluing.  Also check for roughness in crank bearings.

Well I checked the big end crank rod for play in bearing or bluing none .  Also check for roughness in crank bearings don't know it is stiff. I did a compression test it is 140 psi. I don't know if it from sitting so long or what. The person who had sure did run it rich on oil. The top of the pistion black and oily looking. I think I will put a new ring in it and other parts will get it going I hope..Now is it a epa model??? I am sure it is being it has limiters on the carb.I thought I would ask to make sure.  Oh how does a person get the carbon off the piston and top of the cylinder? Sea Foam?? I am not going to hone the cylinder being about every dealer I know of told me no being it will just take out the ring becouse it will not get clean enough I don't know if that is false or true. I would like to know on the epa and too hone or not too hone? Thanks for the IPLS guys.It helped out. What made me lost os the fact it is 2165 not a CS2165.I think someone put another recoil on it off a cs2165 do not know don't care it works..lol. Input on the epa, how to remove carbon on top of the cylinder ( I never done it before I would like to know how too do it) and too hone it or not and what grit too use for a hone if so.

Thanks agian everone you all been helpful with this matter

No on the hone....140 psi is OK for that saw. I wouldn't mess with it unless the carbon is giving you a false reading. Dremel and a wire brush will take care of the carbon.
