So, are all 5000+ closed port? I bought a very clean example several months ago, but I have not been into it yet and have only made a few cuts. The stock compression is 170 and it has a very nice exhaust sound.

All 5000 plus I have seen have been closed so far. Early non plus 5000 I had was open.  You dont have to remove to tell if closed or open.
Been awhile since I have did it and my memory might be wrong. Just look at the top of the transfers that you can see with top still bolted on with piston in down position I think.  But one had rounded corners on transfer and one has square cornered transfers. I cant remember which was which right now.  :-[

Just saving this part number here for the heated handle tubing on the jonsered 490 and partner 5000H and many others.  506020801

What husqvarna used this tubing for heated handles? It also has a husqvarna part number, besides jonsered, partner, poulan, all the same part number 506020801.  ???

Oh, in the middle of converting my last 5000 project to heated handles to match my 490.

I picked up an early SN 325 two weeks ago. I found out it has a 44mm CP cylinder.

Are you saying you picked up a type 1 closed port PP325 and someone had put a 44mm topend on it?  If so I hopeyou at least got the 44mm 490 5000 plus top.

Type 2 PP325 was open port
