A two stroke like this requires oil in the gas which provides all lubrication for the engines internal parts. The only other oil present in this saw would be bar oil in its own tank which is pumped into the bar to lubricate the chain.
Trapped in time, surrounded by evil, low on gas

I hear ya there ford fairlane  what is it with  the echos I did it with a near new cs 280e felt like a real dick when the dealer showed me what I had done, mind you that was nearly 30 years ago. But will admit to scoring a few cheap saws that the owners said wouldn't run and they were chucking them out. yep fuel system full of oil

Pretty sure I have put oil in the wrong hole before but I think I caught it and rinsed it out with gas.

I think that is decent news.   Just got figure out how the bar oil is getting into the saw.

Sort of difficult to determine how bar oil would be getting into the internals of the saw!

The oil and fuel tanks are separate tanks and not directly attached to the crankcase. See attached photo of what is supposed to be the fuel and oil tanks for a WildCat.

WAG: Perhaps someone intentionally poured oil into the jug because they were going to store the saw for a long period and wanted to protect the bearings and internal workings of the saw. I have seen this happen more than once on classic motorcycles and old farm equipment. Perhaps wash the goo out of the engine with pre-mix and watch the saw to see if the black oil returns.

Here is where I got the picture:

Another WAG: it is possible also that the person who owned the saw got the pre-mix ratio way off (like 16:1 or worse), tried to start the saw and got it so seriously flooded that they just put it away, gas evaporates away and leaves behind unburnt pre-mix oil.

I had a McCulloch 3214 for about 12 years.

The crazy thing had the gas tank up front and the oil tank was down low at the left rear the opposite of my other chainsaws. Other than that, it was a likable little chainsaw..

I was always mixing the oil and gas up.

It will not run on Bar oil

Some of the Macs had a diaphragm oil pump. If the diaphragm had a hole in it, the engine would smoke like all get out with the bar oil getting into the crankcase.

Jim in the above picture the white tank on the left is fuel and the black tank I think is oil. Is the white object in the right foreground the oil pump. If is in truth powered by the engine pulse then I can readily see how oil would get into the engine if the pump diaphragm ruptured.

I might rinse the insides with mix in the coming weeks.  As long as there is no bar oil in it it should run.  It is brownish oil in there.  And muffler shows oil.  Someone might of been using the wrong mix for extend amount of time which is common mistake.

If it will kinda run with little effort will mean a lot to this little saws future.

I've never seen one actually hydraulicaly lock up .What usually happens is it sucks up so much bar oil it fouls the plug .Blow the cylinder out ,starting fluid the plug until will fire, start it up .Smoke ,my word so bad you can't hardly see the saw .You could fog mosquitoes .
