New one for me. Wife mowing and said the blades just shut off. 

Electric PTO.   Checked power to switch, then to next connection and then to pto. Nothing to pto from last hot connection. Pulled deck and pto off. Some how the clutch bolt in crank had backed out some and allowed the clutch to turn and 1 of the 2 wires inside the shielded sheath got cut into.
Cut sheath off, used but-connector and taped it all back up. Tested off 1st and clutch engaged.  Installed and back to mowing.
