Hilti Cutoff Saw
« on: October 29, 2013, 01:27:59 pm »
Got a Hilti cutoff saw dropped off last night, my buddy bought it at an auction...of course it is dirty, no blade and does not run, he left with my Stihl TS350 and told me to call with a verdict. First impressions on this thing is that it has a lot of plastic, a weird plug and needs a bath before I tear into it. I have only seen one of these before and I think they are made by Makita and rebranded Hilti.

Doesn't look like any Makitas I've seen

I could be wrong, just going by the plastics right now. When I get a good look at the cylinder we can maybe figure it out together.

The cylinder is tilted forward and I never saw a Makita with anything but a straight up and down cylinder?

Older Hilti and ICS were Emak products (Efco). I could get and sell identical saws and parts. The latest saws seem to be made only for ICS, Efco dealers can't get them. The Hilti may be along that line, or an updated Pioneer 620.

Al Smith just got two Makita cut-off saws at a GTG and they were based on the 7300. There's a thread on it around here somewhere

It will be tomorrow before I tear into this thing, I wanted to do a compression test but, it seems to have one of those odd plug sizes that even the Snap-on set I have does not adapt to, I really need to pull the muffler and have a peek so I know where this thing is going, it seems to pull over easily and that alone has me worried.

I surfed the net but couldn't find much about them .One place said 64 cc's another said 70 .I do know Hilti didn't make them and that's about all I can add .

Now I did find out some of the concrete saws used 1" arbors and some used 20 MM like those two Dolmars I got  wearing Makita blue paint .If you surf flea bay you can buy a whole sack full of 1" to 20 MM reducing bushings for about 65 cents a pop .

Inch was most of the older stuff. 20mm is pretty much standard up here now.
