Chainsaw Repair

I just had a thought occur to me that might be something or just a waste of time .

I've taken apart those old boat anchors that were ran on heavy oil mix,16 to 1 .They smoked like they were burning soft coal back then .However even after decades of sitting and the motor oil evaporated and left an oily residue those things had carb innards that were as supple as they likely were when they were new .

I just wonder if a person ran the things dry then fired it back up with oily gas  then drained the tank if the long term storage would be any better .
