jack kane's  web site reference material was used for the quick program. good stuff:  http://www.epi-eng.com/piston_engine_technology/volumetric_efficiency.htm

ranges used came from bsfc of the leanest stock saw i could find, and a saw used in prof. blair's book; ve from book as well.

a screenshot of the program follows:  (about the most that could be added was about 2 hp for this jonsereds 52, before it goes outside one of the ranges).
