Pretty sure all the modern cylinder coating are electroplated and honed to final dimensions .

Plasma sprayed bores are more common on auto motors.  I think k Ford is using this process in the newest mustangs...

NWP started with chrome on their BB and went to nikasil. IMO must be a reason for it.   mako saying they are sticking with chrome to me is just cost savings to them which = better profits. All JMO and thoughts.

Depends on environmental considerations as spent chromic acid disposal was a real consideration in some countries.
