Why did they have to take something as simple as a gas can and make it complicated and expensive to boot .

Probably used the same stihl flippy cap engineers to come up with the new gas cans. Take a simple screw on/off oil and fuel cap and turn it into a bunch of different pieces of plastic.   :D ::) ;D
