Have not heard of doing gaskets like that in a very long time.

I've had success with doing the inside of the gasket - Then putting the part together holding the gasket firmly in place- and trimming off the outside with a sharp knife.

Even the areas on the inside were cut with a sharp knife against the edge of the motor.

The screw holes just punched with the screw.
