I have a 5 gallon and a 2 gallon metal cans from the early 70's that I use.

I also have several of the current design plastic one gallon cans with the OSHA junk removed. A B&S tank cap fits perfect.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

Why in the world did any of them remove the thumb oiler ?Probabley so they could sell more bars and chains is all I can come up with .

I picked up a echo 4500 in JD yellow 450V and it is 45cc and runs like a OE 346xp 45cc. Thing has the manual thumb oiler with auto oiler.  Never seen one on such a small cc saw.
The small Skilsaw 1610/1616 range have both manual/auto oilers & they are only 32cc ish

The S-25 Poulans had a thumber in addition to the automatic .Those things would really squirt the oil .

Oh I'm just complaining because most times the auto oilers do okay .It's just some times an extra squirt would be nice .Like stumping which is my least favorite use of a chainsaw .

What misery that is .Trying to guide 32-36 inchs of bar about 2 inchs above the ground without kissing the dirt and up to your knees in chips .No matter how much power you have the chain fills full of chips ,the saw runs hot .You're about light headed from breathing exhaust fumes .It just plain sucks with a half life is all I can say .---mumble grumble ---
