Poulan 330 3450
« on: June 29, 2011, 04:03:34 pm »
I've owned 2 PP330 and was wondering about the poulan 3450.

Is the poulan pro 330 54cc and 3450 same  saw? Just one yellow and one green.

As far as I know the color is the only difference.

I just couldnt pass up a running pho 330 parts saw for $46 to my door.  Only problem it isnt a parts saw now.

I was told it was missing muffler, bolts, muffler shield, bar adjuster etc and  Big problem was the **** oil tank under bar adjuster bolt.(( Looks like someone had put bar on without being in the bar adjuster hole on bar and tightened down clutch cover and pushed bar adjuster into crankcase and **** the oil tank. ))
Well I fixed the **** oil tank and stole some parts off the PP365 project saw I am rebuilding to test out the PP330. All checks out to me now and oil tank leaks no more.

Looking for a muffler, shield, bolts, bar adjuster for the 330.

How do these 330's compare to an 034/359? I bought one in a lot of items and don't know anything about them or about the condition of the saw. I will pick it up next Friday.

Depends what you mean by compare.

Are you talking cut speed only? Weight? Handleing?

They feel real good to me, weight is not bad and they cut pretty darn good if you ask, me. The mufflers are really restricted though so dont get into a speed contest with one till the mufflers modded. The good part is the mufflers are 2 piece and easy to do.

Keep a open mind and give it a try, you may like it. You have to remember these were not priced like a 034 or 359 either.

I've never tested the 54cc ones. My 034/036, 028 super are gone and never owned a 359, only 357xp. I do have a 46mm husky 55 and a partner 550 left in that size cc.  For the price and cc size you cant beat them IMO, I think the 330 full price was $279 and could be bought as low as $199.

They do seem bulky and little heavy for 54cc but 60cc one tested,  when compared below it felt better in the woods then the 262xp. Both of us like the feel and handling of the poulan better in the woods cutting over the 262.

I did compare the 3750 60cc to a 262xp cutting firewood one day last year with another guy on hand to switch back and forth. Here is what we thought.  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/poulan/poulan-3750-60cc/

Now  remember you can take the 330 3450 54cc to 60cc very easy and cheap with oem parts.

I have a Poulan 3500 Type II  If you come across a real IPL for one of these, you will discover that the cylinder and other parts are different between Types I, II, & III.

You are correct that the Types I II & IV are different then the Type III cyl and piston.

Your wrong per several IPL's and documents that your type II is 60cc though. It is the Type III that shares the same 60cc P/C with the 60cc 3750.

Still , you have a nice saw and thanks for sharing it.
